Little Tales - Hiss Bucket Challenge
Several people have nominated me for the ice bucket challenge. I decided to draw this in response. The lesson learned is that you should always check your bucket first.

I don't blame you for this, but more and more I have disdain for excusing stupid behavior (I'm calling the behavior stupid, not the people who do it) by saying it's for "charity" or for "a good cause". In fact, I laughed at the point in Monsters University where they had a line satirizing this--the "for charity" thing was selling photos of picked-upon characters caught in a totally humiliating situation. In other words, the only difference is that those being humiliated and those acting "for charity" were not the same people.

Getting back to the comic, I do hope those weren't real snakes (who the heck put them in there, anyway?)....

Basically The Ice Bucket challenge is a viral meme to spread awareness for ALS, or Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. If you want more info on what that is, visit this website; http://www.alsa.org/about-als/ but to sum it up, it is a disease which slowly paralyzes your body until it shuts down and dies. It has no known cure or even a treatment, victims are given medication to make it hurt less, and even though it is not 100% fatal is still a nightmare to be put through.
The Ice Bucket Challenge is simply a way for people to spread awareness, but has had the unfortunate effect of people not even bothering to do the research as to why it was even started. Despite many people forgetting to mention it when they do something related to this challenge, it has still managed to raise a huge amount of awareness for this rare disease.
So you're half right; many of these people are doing it because they think it's funny, and then themselves perform it with no idea as to why it's even a thing. It's stupid behavior promoting stupid behavior.
However, many people promote and donate to this cause because of this challenge, and because of this challenge going viral, $41.8 million has been raised.

Hope that helps clear things up.

Thank you very much for explaining. I suppose that's the good that comes out of this--I didn't know anything about ALS until now. Still, what a way to raise awareness for it. Please excuse me, as I don't mean to offend, but I'm reminded of an old PSA commercial against crack cocaine being given by (I'm not making this up) Pee-Wee Herman. Not Paul Reubens the actor, specifically Pee-Wee Herman the character says "This...is crack."
Alleluia! If any good is coming out of this nonsense, it isn't a total waste. Again, my only concern is that the end doesn't justify the means, especially when there are other means.
God bless!

And yet, those are about the cutest snakes i've ever seen.
I wasn't actually aware that this was for a good cause untill the other day, I thought it was just another of these dumb facebook trends following that "jump in the pool with your clothes on" thing that suddenly everyone was doing. And now I feel sorry about all the stuff I said about this ice bucket challenge >.>;
