Hey, i've heard people saying things like "if Elspeth makes it through this" or "We might not be seeing much from Elspeth in the future.." What is going on with her in the Lore (if you've got time to indulge me~) as i'm just hoping back in after taking a break during the gods blocks

It really seems like they are corrupting all the good or neutral main Planeswalkers

MTG Spoilers abound:

Heliod and Erebos are assholes.

Elspeth makes a deal with Erebos. He brings back the guy she fell in love with and he gets her when she dies.

She and Ajani go to Nyx and fight Xenagos. They win and are about to book it out of Nyx but Heliod shows up.

He's pissed. He blames Elspeth for the victory that lead to the revel that allowed Xenagos to attain godhood. He's scared because she is also a planeswalker and could theoretically do the same. Plus she can kill gods with her weapon (which gods can't do). Plus she's trying to cheat his brother.

He takes Godsend and kills her with it and Erebos claims her. He doesn't know Ajani is also a Planeswalker so he lets him go.

Erebos keeps his end of the deal, but he brought the guy back as a Returned.

There's an image of a Returned's mask made of the shattered pieces of Godsend.

dear god, that is a lot of shit going down... so she is dead but does she still have her spark?? (i'm guessing we won't know until it comes back up again, huh?) I'd really like some sort of planeswalker loop hole that allows her to come back...

also that seems really dumb that the Sun's champion gets killed by the god of the sun :[ Wizards pls, stop doin' this to all the good aligned Planeswalkers...

Greek Gods tend to be petty assholes, so Heliod was totally in character at least.

Also, you can't planeswalk into or out of Nyx, hence why they had to get out before planeswalking off of Theros

I love how the past 2 blocks got resolved offscreen. I guess in CS2016 we'll get a--oh wait.

The theros block was a really sad story :/
