Comish - Calm in the Storm
~~~
Realistic shaded commission upgraded from a sketch commission for
MysticOrca featuring his whalesona, Mystic! (Whalesona - see what I did there? :D Or is it aquasona?)
I was given the opportunity to draw Mystic sporting a new set of wings! They're jet-black on the dorsal side and have some white on the ventral, similar to an orca's tail. I think a a whale with wings is a really cool concept. Especially being an orca, he reminds me somewhat of a totem animal like in the artwork done by the Native Americans of the Pacific Northwest. ^^
I'm also really happy with those wings, especially his right one there. The overall anatomy and shape pleases me.
Fun fact - when I was a kid and first started drawing, I drew whales all the time. Whales, sharks, and dinosaurs.
Thanks again, Mystic! Hope you like!
Thanks! ^^ Actually, on websites that allow it, the black space you're seeing here is actually transparent. :D Here on DeviantArt is a better example of how it really looks: http://twilightsaint.deviantart.com.....torm-477468967
Thanks so much! ^^ I really think it is! One thing definitely is how I'm starting to draw clouds - I see them from a totally different perspective when I'm actually flying by them than on the ground. I can see them how a flying critter really does! X)
