Omg the feels

Not being familiar with the comic or the movie, I don't understand the context of what this piece shows. Please fill in the blanks for me.

BTW, excellent artwork by both of you fine artists

See the movie ;) ... No really, go see it! It's so incredibly good! And the most realistic anthro in a movie you'll ever see.

I really don't watch movies any more. Extremely rarely, anyway, and never in the theaters. The only reason I would watch it is because it has an anthro raccoon in it.

Eh. This happens often enough in the comics that it was quite predictable, and not nearly as emotional, as I guess it would have been for people who didn't know Groot could regenerate from a splinter. Still glad to see people discovering Rocket though. This makes me happy.

I enjoyed the film and loved seeing Rocker and Groot.
From the trailers, I could see how people would fall in love with their wild, manic nature, but they turned out to be deeper emotionally once you got past the surface.
That's good writing.

Sadly I didn't know much about them in comic terms.
I recall reading Guardians when it was the old team, with Vance Astro (Major Victory)
Never read any books with the newer team.
