sparf is a great friend, and one of the finest people I know in the fandom, so when he invited me to come out to Baltimore for the city's first furry convention, there was no way I could say no. Of course, it did help when I found out that Baltimore is only a 2 hour drive away from Philadelphia, where my sister was living at the time. Being a Westerner, I didn't realize it was possible for major cities to be less than 300 miles from each other. XD

Fur the 'More 2013 was a blast, and I had a terrific time at the convention. It was one of my first fursuiting cons and I remember being very pleased with how low the hotel was. Very few elevator rides, and wide hallways made it easy to get around with limited visibility. But more than anything, the enthusiasm of the people running the convention was without compare. Just a fantastic experience with fantastic people.

The con was generous enough to give me the biggest room for my panel, as well, the same auditorium they had held the opening ceremonies in. The space was fantastic, but the recording environment challenging-- there was a massive air conditioner in the room that made things very comfortable, but put a lot of noise on the mics. I remember the first time I listened to the recordings in my studio being horrified by the amount of noise I could hear-- it would be a nightmare to build a room tone and clean up each take.

But this is where this summer has been so helpful. After all the remote recording I did for my job the last five months, I learned how to use noise reduction software. And it was a boon for this recording. Something that I was terrified would take me weeks to finish I completed in a couple hours after I ran the audio through a pairing of Waves' X-Noise and NS1 filters. It's not perfect, but the result is so much better than anything I could have gotten before, in a way, I'm kind of glad I dragged my feet in getting this out. The recordings turned out better for it.

Had a lot of fun recording the furries of Baltimore! There's some real gems in this collection. Only 11 recordings since my time was limited and, being a first con, attendance was low, but it was a delight to listen again and bring back all those memories of a truly wonderful con. Hope to get back out to Baltimore again! Even if I can't package it with a visit of my sister this time. ;)
