JWarGod asked for the dragoness in full plate armour. This is still fantasy armour but is a lot closer to late period steel armour.
To fight someone in armour, you need a way to punch through it or transmit damage through it. Hence the war hammer, based on a Maul - It's hammer transmits shock through plate, stunning or injuring, and the spike smashes holes in it. And if you knock someone down you can use the spike on the bottom of the handle to impale them.
