After having said goodbyes to friends in Drajua, Alexander and Elizabeth set out for Jazda, the city of secrets. As they were walking, Alexander began to speak.
“Elizabeth, there is something I want you to know.” He said, looking forward while he walked.
“What is it dad?” She asked, looking up at him curiously.
“I haven’t always been truthful with you, so I’m going to tell you everything now. My last name is not Walker, its Selenveen. There was never anyone named Maria Johnson.” Alexander told her, making Elizabeth widen her eyes in surprise and shock.
“I am Prince Alexander Kelia Selenveen XIII and God-King of Lumen and Insania.” He went on, glancing at her for a quick second.
“T-the same one in the stories?” Elizabeth asked him curiously.
He nodded and glanced at her again.
“The same. Make no mistake though Elizabeth, I do love you like a daughter and I will protect you but understand, that protecting Creation is very important to me.” Alexander said last.
Elizabeth nodded and quickened her pace to catch up with her father, who was walking ahead of her now.
It wasn’t long before they reached Jazda, about several hours since they left Drajua. Jazda was surrounded by a great stone wall, a large wooden gate sat in the front of the city. Atop the city wall sat two large dragons. One was green and the other was purple. The guardians Xavier and Zeon. The two dragons bowed their heads at Alexander’s approach and the gates slowly opened for them.
“Enter, ancient one…” The green dragon spoke.
“....and make thyself home in our city.” The purple dragon finished.
Alexander walked through the gate while Elizabeth looked up at the dragons in awe.
“Elizabeth?” Alexander called which made her jump a little bit.
“Coming!” She called out and ran over.
In the city, the streets were crowded with people and creatures. Dog sized dragons, elves and humans. Even some dwarfs. Alexander pulled out his map and studied it for a second before putting it back.
“Elizabeth, I want you to go to the inns and ask if there is anyone by the name of Maxwell.” Alexander said, patting his daughter on the shoulder. She nodded and hurried off without delay. Alexander then made his way to the city’s castle,to get an audience with the city’s lord, Lord Revilon. Just before he was about to set on his way a small child came up to Alexander and stared up at him.
“Can you help me find my mommy?” The child asked, sniffling a tiny bit. Smiling, Alexander kneeled down and picked the child up, putting her on his shoulders.
“Sure thing kiddo. Where was she last?” He asked, walking off.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth entered a tavern called ‘The Dancing Sheep’,one of Jazda’s more fancy taverns. As she entered, the patrons gave her all sorts of looks, some perverse some curious. She paid them no mind but instead went to the counter. The barkeep looked at her before talking to her.
“What can I get for ya lassy?” He asked her softly.
“Information. I’m looking for someone by the name of Maxwell.” She said softly, leaning on the counter.
The tavern fell silent and began to stare at Elizabeth, as if angry with her.
She looked around and a bit confused before looking back at the barkeeper.
“Aye, I know the lad. Everyone here in Jazda does. He’s a wanted criminal he is.” The barkeep said, cleaning a mug with a rag now.
“Ye best stay away from the likes of him lassy but by judgin the look in your eyes I doubt that ya will. Look fer the Wounded Crow down in begger’s lane. Shouldn’t be to hard to find. Most of the Taverns there are run down.” The barkeep said and went to serve a man a drink at the counter.
Alexander waved good bye to the child and her mother as they walked away from him before he spotted a black male panther staring at him from an alley way. Not a second later, the panther disappeared into thin air. Alexander walked towards the alley way and looked down it, to see no one there. “What…?” He said to himself, confused and slowly turned to leave. Just then the panther reappeared behind him and wrapped an arm around his neck, holding a knife to his neck.
“Don’t struggle and don’t yell or I’ll end your life.” The panther said, his voice deep and rumbling. Alexander snarled a bit but did what the panther said, the both of them disappearing into the shadows.
Elizabeth made her way to the Wounded Crow, like the barkeep said, her ears twitching at all the sounds of the city. When she reached beggar’s lane it looked run down and decrepit. There were no lights on in the area, not a single one which only gave rise to Elizabeth’s bad feeling. Keeping a hand on her swords, Elizabeth made her way down the street. ‘I don’t like this one bit.’ She thought, jumping at every little sound that was made.
As she turned the corner, a sword was suddenly put to her neck and a hand went over her mouth.
“Keep quiet and don’t struggle, you’ll just make things worse for yourself missy.” The unknown voice said, removing the hand from her mouth.
“Who are you?” She asked flatly, her ears laid back.
“Thats none of your business, Elizabeth.” The voice said.
At the sound of her name her ears perked and her fur stood on end.
“How do you know my name?” She questioned the stranger.
“None of your concern. Now shut up and move.” The voice said, pushing her in the direction that he wanted to go.
‘Can’t fight. Its too dark here...’
She thought, biting her lower lip and walking to where she was told.
