Canon XH-A1. Full of more win than you can imagine. 1080i HD awesomeness.
Photo taken with my former DV camera, the Panasonic PV-GS19. It is old and tired and is getting the rest it has earned.

Nice!
I'm kind of partial to Sony's Handycam series myself, though. I've never used a Canon, but I've used both Panasonic and Sony to do some videography at concerts, and the Sony was lighter and more versatile.
My personal camera is a consumer-grade handycam, but it's still one of the best cameras under $300.

Wow...that's some serious prosumer hardware, Mr. Cirrus! One question...why this particular model?
You mentioned in your reply to WoofersHayes that MicroCenter has this camera. I have a MicroCenter in my area (was just there a couple days ago), and they have your new camera, a Canon XL-2, and a Sony FX1 available...all three of which are very close in price. Was the selection similar in your area...and if so, what was it about this camera that "sealed the deal" with you?

The deal-sealer so to speak is that the XH-A1 seemed to be geared toward those familiar with working on film. The XL2 is fine, but I'm more interested in HD than being able to swap lenses. The lens on the A1 is more than ideal. Other niceties like total image control (being able to emulate film stocks and even the appearance of other prosumer cameras) was another big selling point. It has a much better 24fps mode than the Sony, which only simulates it. The FX1 is more a wedding/event camera than a filmmaking camera. Speaking more of film, some icing on the cake was framing guides for various movie aspect ratios like 1.85:1, 2.35:1, and 1.66:1. good if I'll be submitting anything to film festivals.
Not really. I have nothing important to say.
Though I've posted a couple videos online so far.
