I acquired these two female badgers a few years ago and for the longest couldn't decide what to do with them. They weren't the quality I needed for competition work, but I still wanted to make them lively again.
I decided to turn this pair into a soft-style mount since their fur is super soft and plush along with the fact that their stumpy legs won't look silly being floppy and soft (imagine a noodle-legged soft coyote.)
This is the "baby". I went to mount her with a more adult-style face that I had hand-carved and things were just not working out for me.... so I turned to pictures of young and juvenile American badgers and modified it from there. The skin was much happier with this change and things fit together so well once I realized my error.
Hard to believe there were a few large spots on her face where the fur had slipped :) She fixed right up! Her fur is a bit thicker and more plush than "Mama".
