At age 11, when visiting Man And His World in Montreal in the summer of 1979, I witnessed this animatronics show called Wolf Pack 5, the predecessors of Rock-a-Fire Explosion. Don't mind the cheesy French name they slapped on it (Croquenotes). The show was still in English.
I loved the characters enough to borrow my mom's cheapo Kodak 110 and take these two photos, but I recall being more mesmerized by the multitrack reel-to-reel on the side of the stage and the Bose speakers. I remember the speaker brand because the fox was holding a rose. Bose. One letter off. Yeah, my geeky kid's brain worked like that. :-P

Freaking Aaron voicing everything. His original voice for Mitzi of the Rock-afire was terrible, haha.
You're so lucky to have seen them live and in person! Aaron still has robots from the show in various amounts of disrepair sorted around his warehouse. I'd love to see them someday, even if it's not quite the same as seeing them complete and on stage, haha.

I figure you might like to see this archival footage of the Wolf Pack 5 from 1980.
Intresting stuff! Never had *anything* like this in the UK -- honestly after a bit of poking about and finding a video of the successor group "rock-afire" I'd honestly not seen anything quite like that before. Also found this picture of the wolf pack 5 btw.

Ooops! My mistook! But what did you think of the wolf pack/rock-afire? I've honestly not seen anything like this before -- there was definately nothing like this in the UK at the time, only puppet-style shows that was the closest we got to this! Intresting someone posted a link of rock-afire in ireland btw; I watched that it seemed pretty good - especially from what I read it could be ~20-30 years old - !
