This is the very first piece done a full rework of my drawing style. I wanted to prove to myself that I could remove every bit of sonic resemblance in the way I draw furries - people kept thinking he was a sonic fan character instead of a fursona. If you look at some of my older works I posted you can see why!

It took a lot of effort to break my style that I haven't ever made any sudden change in. There were a lot of aspects of his appearance to work out - I got too used to drawing all of his features in a really cartoony-sonic look. That was fine for awhile, but I decided to make it clear Flamix is separate from my love of Tails the Fox. While the sonic fandom is what got me into the furry fandom, I don't think of it as really PART of the furry fandom the way I used to think of it, and that was why I wanted to do this rework.

Also heres a slightly shortened version of a bio for Flamix that explains the fire coming off of his tail (note that the story is 90% fictional and has little to no basis on my real experiences):

Flamix the fox is a 21-year-old, kind-hearted, shy but very intelligent red fox who grew up in Iowa until tragically he was washed away from his house by a flash flood when he was only 8 years old. He managed to get onto a floating raft shivering and wet. Suddenly, he realized his fur was strangely dry and warm, and a light was shining into his eyes from somewhere. He had discovered his super power - he was able to produce a flame from his tail and hands to stay warm and was immune to being burned even by hot lava. Eventually another fox rescued him from the water - another family of foxes had seen the light from the fire and stopped to see what it was. Sadly he never saw his parents again and is still looking for them to this day. Flamix now hates water but loves to watch rain and lightning thanks to his friend, and he still manages to keep clean despite his reluctance to get wet. He may seem very quiet at first but will open up about his deep thoughts and feelings if you take the time to talk to him and listen to what he has to say.

His best friend is one of the children of the family that rescued him long ago - another red-colored fox named Storm, who got Flamix interested in weather when he showed him his deep, sacred electrical and storm summoning powers. Flamix only has a few friends, but the ones he does have are very close to him, and most of them say he is the nicest fox they ever met! ^^

There are still a few tweaks I need to make with his appearance. The feet were one thing I wasn't totally satisfied with (I redrew them like 3 or 4 times...) and I also need to fix the eyes as I forgot to draw the whites of them - right now they are just pupils! DX But overall I am happy with my new look, please let me know what you think, this is the first time I have tried drawing something this way! :)
