This might just be my favorite version of this song (original here). I think the original had a fantastic atmosphere but I also honestly think this one matches it beat for beat. I recorded this while imagining it was actually getting played by a hairy-toothed Russian sailor, staring at you with one lifeless eye as candlelight flickers in a shady, dilapidated tavern.
The accordion's potential for depression and fright are always so easily underestimated by people: I know I invariably associate them with miserable sailors and even more miserable communists, so maybe that's just me. Either that, or they remind me of the homeless; busking for change in the hopes of finding some place to sleep at night. Either way the damn things sound bloody depressing.
Unless of course it's a polka by Weird Al. That just goes without saying.

Could be, but also keep in mind that I'm not working with an actual accordion here: I'm working with a keyboard. A very nice keyboard that cost me about $500, but yeah: you're not wrong in saying it's digital. Cause it is
I am currently trying to familiarize myself with some new gear that'll hopefully bear fruit in the future and make this kind of thing less obvious, but it's slow going. Still, glad you liked this version in spite of its issues.
