AT LONG LAST, MY AUGUST PATREON IS DONE; LET THERE BE GREAT SQUEALING AND ELATION THROUGHOUT THE LAND. For those interested in helping fuel my monthly fanart endeavors (with perks, naturally), I'll just leave a link below.

Anyway, I was just beyond giddy at the idea of doing some Guardians of the Galaxy fanart of my two favorite characters this month! It took me a little while to come up with an idea I hadn't seen done already, and it finally struck me in a twilight epiphany before bed one night. So! Here we are! Rocket's helping his favorite living bonsai and partner in crime work on those precious fine motor skills.
Enjoy, all! And of course, a huge thank you both to my wonderful patrons who made this possible and my great streaming company, who make sure the art gauntlet is never boring. Total working time on this was just over 13-ish hours.
We are Groot.

It's just the most recent song reference that is popular right now. Whenever I hear it I am always reminded of an episode of "3rd Rock from the Sun". I guess every person remembers songs by the first time they encountered them in media, but sometimes they resurface in other places and become popular to a new generation of listeners. It's harmless unless it turns into a never ending meme like Chuck Norris jokes or the movie Inception. You can't discuss movies about dreams without that one always creeping up, because it's the most recent and therefore most mentioned movie about that subject these days. Or people referencing something recursive or nested as [insert name of thing here]ception as if recursion or nested stories were a totally new concept introduced by that particular movie. Those kind of memes are annoying. An old song becoming popular again with a new movie? Not so much. But I get where this is coming from since there is not a single day without trailers and that song always playing, making a strong connection there. But still, I guess most people are aware that the song isn't new and already was awesome before this movie. As long as they don't claim older movies or shows trying to copy the most recent movie I don't see an issue. And if you encounter people who never heard the song before (probably because they were to young to remember the last time it became popular), just introduce them to the movies that popularized the song for you, because in this case they probably don't know those movies either, which is an opportunity to introduce a whole new audience to your favorite movies.
Yeah. If you think of his mom, and then listen to the soundtrack (and know who his dad is) you can actually hear her story told via music. She meets a guy, falls in love, things don't work out, she forgives him, then realizes her time is short, and it ends with her reassuring her son that things are going to be OK.
Aw, cute! My boyfriend just got a Loot Crate exclusive Funko Groot this month. Neither of us have ever seen GotG so it's just going to hang out in a closet or something, idk. o_O
It's super awesome and interesting that this was your fanart for Patreon this month, though, as I really had no idea what GotG was! It looks cute!
Love the details in this and the movement is really well done. The lighting and lineless painting really makes this pop!
