One thing I never understood... Why Pete? She's one of the more attractive Disney moms of the 90s and yet she marries a controlling and narcissistic tub of lard like Pete?

I think it was one of those situations where its was just a marriage for the show.
In the comics Pete has a gf and once in awhile a wife, but usually she looks very much like him.

True, probably overthinking it. Then again given Meg's slender frame and Pete's bulk I'd also wonder how the hell they managed to have sex or even share a bed without him crushing her to death. Must be a toon thing...
