Its a British number plate, DV is a local identifier, it changes between city to city. 58 denotes the year of registration which is the later part of 2008, and the last part is just a random element to the plate. Before 2001 the number plates had a different format with the first letter stating the year of registration such as R309 FAP.
Its a UK standardised license plate.
The first letter is the broad location where it was registered in the country, with the second being more specific.
D = Deeside
V = Shrewsbury
58 = registered between September 1st 2008 and February 28th/29th 2009
OCB = random jumble of letters
My license plate, for example, starts with NL14
N = North, L = Newcastle, 14 = Registered between March 1st 2014 and August 31st 2014

From your plate? Name, address, vehicle class, plate status, vin, etc... There are numerous places online to perform plate lookups since DMV information is largely publicly owned knowledge.
It depends if you want your RL name attached to your furry persona by whatever you have posted as your furry self that directly connects it to your real life. For most people in the modern day in age, it's generally not a good idea to have your life so transparent to the world. Especially since when you apply for a job, HR is going to perform a ton of searches online to see what you basically didn't tell them or may have lied about. Lots of people with that stupid Facebook thing that post drunk self-images find out that they don't get hired because they get flagged as being an irresponsible drunkard. Posting anything on Facebook is just generally a bad idea anyways.

That information is NOT public, you have to contact the DVLA and for a fee of £12 you can REQUEST that information. It is then logged down, so if anything happens, they have YOUR contacts details to trace back to. Sometimes, the DVLA won't even accept your request. So I would like to know what dodgy websites you know of that can get that information from? As that's not legal.
As for showing your number place, it's public information, everyone has them on display, its LEGAL to do so. Do you dive around with yours hidden then? :P I know the whole connection between furry and RL is dodgy, but even then, the connection is slim. The only two REASONS to hide it images in the two rare cases where someones uses your numberplate on a stolen or dodgy vehicle of some kind on a model that is the same as the number plate being used. Or there are also rare cases where people use car forms to find certain cars in order to steal them or get something from the car (like gone in 60 seconds) but then, that's mainly used for Ferrari's and desirable cars. It really doesn't matter enough to cry about. I got two personalised plates and I have them on show everywhere. Nothing has happened here! I would say it's more of a personal choice, more than safety. (Like if you want to join Facebook or not)

Pretty much what Shanie said! Number plates are very public things to start with, I can go onto the internet now and do checks on vehicles for £'s and will only receive certain information.
As for furry vs real life, I let my name be public as I run a business, I design and create costumes for a living so this 'furry' thing creates a good portfolio for my later life to be fair, it's not something that will damage me :) I'm rather proud of what I do!
Also lol if any employer goes to my Facebook and finds my university drunk selfies I'm pretty sure I'm exactly the same as 80% of the others they were going to hire
