"The Caravans are the Sultanates lifeblood.
The Princesses and Strategas are the logical mind of the Sultanates.
The Lizards and the Amazones themselves are the muscles of the Sultanates.
The Fennekims are the heart and spirit of the Sultantes.
And we Fennekims Trackers are the nose, ears, claws and eyes of the Sultanates."
That is how Fennekim Trackers see themselves.
This is a WIP from
NoMoreShame for me.
Fennekim Trackers are usually the more experienced fennekims in a mixed century.
They are typically much more sober and thoughtful than the average fennekim, and learned to follow their Centuria's orders in the spirit of her words.
They roam the desert a half days march around the caravan, warning it early of impeding dangers and directing the Caravan to watersupplies.
This fellow here is from one of the colder cities, as you can see by his smaller-than-average ears.
He wears a light leather armor, a silken cape for protection against sandstorms, as camouflage and as cover agaisnt the midday-sun.
He has a short sword, not visible as it's on his right side ( fennekim train to be ambidextrous ) and a shortbow with a range of variously treated arrows in his quiver.
He wears puffy pants almost like a civilian, but for trackers they're important as, when digging in to escape being discovered to to evade a sandstorm, fennekim curl up, and the wide trousers allow for more breathing space.
And they provide ample protection against sand getting where it would itch when running long distances.
The metal parts he wears are either treated not to reflect ( oxidized, burned/browned ) or coated with leather.
His clothes colors are the colors of the sands, ranging from bone-white over sand-yellow-amber to beige , ocher, burnt siena and finally various shades of black and dark grey.
Only when you looks closely you'll find that the yarn used for sewing his clothes are richly varied in color, ranging from bright blue over may-green to tomato-red. The stitches are too small to be perceived from the distance, but they provide satisfaction to the fennekim tracker who, like all of his kind, loves bright colors.
