A puff of billowing dust filled the musky air. A wheezing cough followed as a young mare tried to wipe the tears from her eyes. Cleaning the attic was not her ideal way to spend her Sunday afternoon. In attempt to clear off a box full of its collection of lamented dust, she seemed to only make the situation worse.
Bubble Lee pushed the attic's window open with a violet swirling aura from her horn, in hopes to let in some fresh air and relieve her eyes of the floating particles. As the room cleared, she let out a sigh as she glared down at the box. With her magic, she lifted open the lid to see what moth invested crap she will have to throw away next.
As the lid slid off, Bubble Lee was surprise to see a book. With her hoof, she wiped clear the layer of dust obscuring her ability to read the title. "Family Album" it read. Curiosity got the better of her, as the young mare opened its cover. Nostalgia seeped into her as she turned the pages. At the beginning, there wasn't very many ponies she recognized. A great aunt here, her grandfather there, but all these ponies have long passed.
It was then she saw her first familiar face. Her father, Silver Lining, in a family portrait. The only difference being that he seemed to be about Bubble's age, if not younger. It's strange not seeing her father with his now iconic mustache.
With another turn of the page, she was greeted by a very happy, very familar face. Her mother, Kiwi Breeze, at an even younger age, holding up a second place ribbon. The glee on her face clearly showed that this was her first competition. Bubble giggled, wondering what her mother would have said if she knew she was going to be winning dozens more of first place, and even championship ribbons in her future.
More photos told a story about how Kiwi and Silver met, how they fell in love and, as she turned the page, had their first foal. Bubble Lee paused at a photo of her mother holding a new born filly, as her father, with a proud look on his face, stood over them. I love they felt for this tiny foal could not be described in a thousand words. They love they had for their sweet little Bubble Lee.
As she wiped another tear from her eye, Bubble Lee closed the album and placed it in the box, storing it safely away in the "Keep" pile.
