Okay, it’s been quite a long time since I’ve pushed out a chapter of TPD. I hope the unfamiliarity of the story doesn’t turn away readers. I think this is one of my best-written stories so far, so I hope no one skips out.
I left off the story with Jacob’s father Desmond separating Jacob and Penelope by locking Penelope up in her stable after discovering the two were having sex. Jacob went to the city to find another dragon to help him in his plan to get his father to reconsider sending Penelope away to a dragon handler until she could get over her infatuation with Jacob.
That’s basically all you need to know.
Post-story notes (SPOILERS! Read after the story!):
~I said I'd get two more stories out by the end of the month, and this was the second one. Turns out I went over that promise by a single day. Still pretty good, in my opinion!
~Protip: Draakin isn't a funny way of spelling dragon, its actually a portmanteau of dragon and kin. If I have to make up any other "dragon speech" words in future chapters, I'll probably be deriving them from german. Because of reasons. I imagine "dragon speech" from a wild-born dragon will probably be a mixture of "traditional" words in dragon tongue, and pidgin english.
~Oh fuck, I really did it, didn't I? I reached the point in my story-telling and world-building where I have to make up words and languages. ._. I'd never thought I'd ever let myself get to this point.
~I went through about three or four revisions of the argument between Jacob and Desmond, but it never really came together until I developed the ending. The short exchange where Desmond tells Jacob he respects him for standing up for himself, and Jacob getting emotional over it, was something I was very happy with. Desmond is not a man that's good with expressing affection, and those few, short words he uttered meant the world to Jacob. Personally, my father is nothing like Desmond, but nonetheless that scene felt incredibly cathartic and satisfying for me to write.
~I apologize for the lack of Penelope in this chapter. There should be more of her next time. But the new few chapters might prove to be a bit ... challenging. I'll say this much: this whole mess with Penelope, Jasper, and Jacob isn't over yet. I may struggle to find ways to add in porn scenes given the amount of plot I want to write, but I will do my best to accommodate.

This is a really wonderful chapter! The characters all shine in it.
Vargr will probably get pilloried for even suggesting this but ...(looks about nervously)... wuffy would actually rather see more continuing character and plot development of this caliber, even if it meant that the porn had to wait a bit longer to return.
Don't get wuff wrong, you write some really HOT porn, too! But "All the porn, all the time" is like just having the icing on the cake and nothing else. Sooner or later, it starts to pall. This chapter adds substance, it supplies the "cake" to support the icing. And together, it is a much better treat!

Actually... the lack of porn is starting to sober me up a bit. I'm leaning towards hoping Nel runs off so she can be free. Sorry Jake, it was good while it lasted!

I'm starting to hate this Jasper drake, since he knew that Jacob was in love with Penelope but decided to try and steal her away from Jacob anyway.

Interesting, I never intended for anyone to dislike Jasper at this point. I don't think he did anything wrong aside from convincing Penelope to go spend more time around her own kind, which he did because he thinks she could benefit from being around other dragons for a change. It was also plain to see that when Penelope wanted to take their "pretend mates" act further that he became uncomfortable. I like the guy, personally.

So I'm late to the party, being new to TPD, but it's been my summer reading list for the last weeks. And while the sex scenes so far have been is first rate; its not why I keep turning (well swiping on my reader) page after page.
The story, its plot and character/world development are really starting to shine! Your world building is creative, fresh and believable. I can't seem to put the damn tale down. This last installment even caused me to tear up a bit. That's right, you made a 48 year old father of two cry. That's the mark of an outright bastard.....and....the mark of a first rate, best in class story telling Author! BRAVO!
This may be heresy for your normal fan base, but if the story ahead is at least as good as the porn behind, then the remainder of TPD will be a very good read, indeed!
