Michael Eisner left in 2005 and had nothing to do with buying Marvel and Star Wars. That was the current CEO of Disney; Bob Iger.
He did buy ABC though.
Eisner fucked up big in the end but I have to play devil's advocate and acknowledge without him, Disney would've been bought out in a hostile takeover by Saul Steinberg. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wa.....new_leadership The Imagineers would've been fired, and all new movies or theme park updates shut down. In fact, there might not even been a Disney Afternoon since the hostile takeover was attempted in 1984 and the Disney Afternoon started around '88 or '89.
In the end I certainly am not the biggest Eisner fan but if I must choose the lesser of two evils...

No, it's Bob Iger now although he's becoming more of the same in my opinion. The only real difference is that where Eisner broke partnerships, Iger brings them back and makes them stronger. Pixar was on the verge of leaving Disney just before Eisner left but Iger fixed that. I believe Eisner broke off ties with George Lucas which is why it took 20 years for Star Tours to get updated but as you see, Iger fixed that too. I'll give him that much.
Other than that though, Iger is just as much a businessman Eisner is. But maybe better at it XD

It doesn't bother me so much with Star Wars since it's a property already with a connection with Disney. Star Wars has been in Disney parks since the late 80s so when Lucas was looking to sell it, it didn't surprise me or bother me that Disney bought it for if nothing else, then to make sure they could keep it in the parks. Especially since the last good thing to come out of Star Wars came was the Star Tours update and that was all Disney. I got a better Star Wars vibe from that one ride than the entire prequels put together.
Marvel on the other hand, while it doesn't bother me in the short run because the movies are still coming out well, and the comics aren't being tampered with, in the long run it feels like Disney's new philosophy in competition is; "If you can't beat em, BUY EM" and that bothers me a lot.
