Well that was an unexpected plot twist...... But E always knew that his old life might catch up with him some day.
The Force needs to be careful how it treats other branches of city govt. Being mean to the city messengers could lead to some unintended consequences for the force. Or telling the Mayor off could result in seeing some line items being cut.
Hopefully John continues to improve things from within at the PD.... But they really do need a proper cafeteria, where the officers and visitors can get a real meal.... Plus the kibble won't work very well once they start accepting non canine recruits.
Now you also have me wondering, why would Brian not want the city to trade with the outside world??

There was even one reading a pocketbook. ???? He's reading his wife's bag of infinite holding??
It's the only no-salute zone in the world. The gym, shooting range ect should are always "No Saluting" zones as well.
“I see you're making improvements.” He shrugged. “It's taking time, but we're getting there.”
One thing at a time, I suppose. You'd be surprised how hard it
is to change. It's been what, over a year? I've been fighting tooth and nail to get even the smallest of
changes written into the force's protocols. New projects that the force agrees with on the other hand...
To use the old FD saying "XXX years of Traditions unimpeded by progress."

Max stood out in front of them all, perched ungracefully atop a small pile of rusted out steal STEEL girders.
“He's
congratulating Max on being sent as they city's representative.”

Yep, pretty much! And let's just say this this is a bit of foreshadowing of what's to come at some point in the distant future...
You're right as far as how the Police treat others. They're prim and perfect on the outside, but if you butt into their territory they become... possessive. Thankfully Jon is better than his predecessors, but even he has quite a bit of learning to do. You know what they say about sleeping with dogs...
Brian and trade really boils down to the wolf being a control freak. He has a low opinion of any non-human, and V-town has the greatest concentration of humans on the planet. From his point of view there was nothing to be gained by allowing more non-humans into the city.

Hmm... Not sure what you're saying there.

Yep, in so many ways, yep. *Headdesk*

Purse and Pocketbook are used interchangeably...... Add to that the ability of women to seemingly pull any strange contrivance or item out of their was even one reading a pocketbook. ???? He's reading his wife's bag of infinite holding??
Hmm... Not sure what you're saying there.
In the lower 48, the term pocket book and purse is used interchangeably, and it has led some "geek" (i.e. D&D players) member of the population to rename pocketbooks The Infinite Bag of Holding.
You also have me very curious about, what kind of business the police have some type of controlling interest in........... ???

Now that's interesting, I've never heard the term 'pocketbook' to mean 'purse'. Up here the term always refers to a small softcover book like you would buy at a bookstore or airport.
As for a purse being a bag of holding, oh yeah. I've been quite amazed what some women are able to carry around with them. Not to mention the upper body strength it must take to lug at much about all day!
Heheh. Oh, I'm sure the V-town police have interests in a large number of 'essential' city businesses. Uniform manufacturers, metallurgists to ensure good badges, and of course they have the world cornered on the production of kibble!
