Good lord, this has become my single most elaborate work ever, yes even more than my 60 hours picture. Believe it or not, I have been working on this thing for over 2 1/2 months, here and there.
When summer started, I wanted to do a really lovely picture for the season. To keep the story short, the foreground with the ladies was done quickly, but the background kicked me into a hole of no concept and hence no motivation for quite some time and I did hard getting the move on with the project. But quitting was no option at any point.
So the background is not the biggest masterpiece there is, but it works quite nicely. It's anyway only there, that those ladies are being presented in a whole and full picture. While we can argue about the good and bad aspects of the background, those 3 female characters are highly pleasing my eye, I can say that. The background was a major pain in the ass to work out, but keeping working on the 3 angels was a lovely task. As you can see, I was fancy for a lot of mix in there, concerning species and race. I wanted to do something human again, and also I wanted to show my international spirit and include a black lady in there. She was receiving a lot of work, but it paid off. I am sure, chocolate would taste like a pretzel compared to her :b The swimming pool setting was the proper idea from the beginning on to have it believable, that all of them wouldn't be waering much and including some wet skin =3 And I don't know if it matters to you knowing it, but the 3 on the bench are friends, who have some nice time at the swimming pool. Black lady is totally enthusiastically telling fox lady something awesome she just experienced, when fox lady and white lady were just relaxing on the bench with some ice cream. White lady just keeps relaxing, not giving too much attention to what black lady has to say :b The girl in the background is not related to them, just being there, filling out some empty space in the picture with even more female loveliness and tanning her back...... through fur....... whatever, bite me XD
Since I started to work with Photoshop since I guess 9 years back, I never used a different version than Photoshop Elements 2.0 from 2002. It offers everything (even more than today's Elements version, which are sucking balls - believe me, I BOUGHT Photoshop Elements 10 for quite the money and never used it again after a few tries) and is absolutely reliable, and also doesn't bother me with fucking social media components **do you want to publish this picture on FuckBook/Twatter/SocialMediaBullshit#276 right out of your graphics program?** Are you fucking kidding me? I digress, so anyway.... I finally came to experience the first actual problem with this old version. It's made for 32bits operating systems only, so it's max RAM usage is limited. My computer has 8Gigs RAM, but this Photoshop can not use more than 1.650MB of RAM. And dude, those were highly exceeded when having this file opened, so it needed to be outsourced to the hard drive. That caused quite the opening and saving times and also sometimes blocked me when using filters. This picture was the heaviest job in technical means, that I ever did. You know, because of the RAM usage limitations, and doesn't make a difference anymore, how powerful your machine is. One day, I need to switch to a newer Photoshop version, but let's see about this. And FYI, the size of the PSD file of this whole picture ended at 270MB when it was finished.
Due to FA's size restrictions, the display size here is 1280x720 pixels, but this picture contains so many details, that even FullHD wasn't enough to choose. So I uploaded it in 4K (4096x2304 pixels) to DeviantArt, which - to make quite a comparison here - is only one fourth of the full original resolution of the picture (8K) but still more than full resolution of my 60 hours picture (3200x2400). It's almost getting redicolous. You will get right to the 4K picture here: http://red-indicator.deviantart.com.....mmer-480145914
Overall I am absolutely happy with the result. Well, that's only natural. If it wouldn't have been looking sweet when being drawn as a sketch, I wouldn't bother spending so much of digital time on it. Damn it, my nerd passion for fox ladies and my time consuming methods for digital work are eating up quite some free time......... But well, there I am glad having my screen tablet. That tool was not being used for a single pixel in this picture, but many pictures, basically drawn with that thing, will follow from now on. It will not be very soon, that I start working on such a damned complex thing again. At least, I am not planning it.
So, as usual, I hope you will find as much enjoyment in this piece as I do. It was.................. special.

Ah, I was beginning to wonder if you'd ever make another artwork... this is very nice. It's not quite too late, well, here, at least, I'm getting about another month of summery weather...
(well, shit. I had that particular version of photoshop elements just bundled with an old scanner that was too obsolete to work anymore, and I don't think I kept the software when I got rid of the old scanner. It wouldn't function on my new computer. I had no idea I had anything special.

Where do you live then? L.A.? :P
You don't need to see that Photoshop version as special, it's just better concentrating on what is essential, where the name Elements fits very well, compared to the newer versions. I guess for a more modern Photoshop version, I have to look for other versions than Elements. They will surely not concentrate on modern trends of general society, but on what Photoshop is about.

Actually, Detroit. Been a year of extremes. After the coldest, most miserable winter in a long time, we just got the biggest rainstorm on record ever for the city. This summer has been unusually cool, too, rarely going above the 70s, but it seems to never quit either. I'm guessing we'll get another month of 70s, that's usually normal, though one year Halloween was like a summer night, you never know... I feel like I've come in out of the cold but have only been in a barely room-temperature room for 10 minutes. I'm not ready to go back out into the cold yet! ATM I'm hedging my bets by buying warm clothes, since winter, spring, and summer have all sucked, i'm gonna make the most of autumn.
I remember now, that version of photoshop elements was stripped down for free bundling, many features that were greyed out, including many of the most popular ones mentioned in art tutorials. Including this wonderful "Grass" brush you just talked about. That's why I wasn't keen on keeping it. ATM I'm on the search for another program, but I never really learned to digitially color so I really don't know what I want.

Ah, Detroit, so far up north. I heared about the weather like the last winter in your area, cost your country millions of dollars in repairs over half of the country. I am German, and our weather often sucks too. The first half of this summer was hot as shit and so humid, the second half was cold and rainy all the time like perfect fall. Awkward.
Oh yeah, it's the biggest bullshit when content in software is greyed out. That was the case with my both Adobe programs Photoshop and Premiere Elements 10 that I both bought for 150€. Essential functions were not available, feels like betrayal. I only didn't give both versions back, because I am using free versions of Photoshop and Premiere for so many years and I wanted to get more modern and pay for the software. Couldn't ever use the programs because of how they are made, and so I don't need to feel any guilty in using my good old programs for free, since I was playing fair and buying their newer versions, just to find out they are useless.

ah, yeah, to get the full version of photoshop, takes way too much money for an individual. It's been redesigned for corporate art studios, and left freelance artists out in the cold. But that won't stop them from tempting you with it. Actually, there's a growing movement towards the "ultimate" versions of certain programs, most of which peaked in the mid-2000s before feature creep and connectivity ruined them. Which requires running windows XP in some cases.
And LOL, I spoke too soon, today, suddenly 90F for the first time all summer, yay!
