Completed commission for Wolfwings the spotted owl red wolf critter.
I was inspired by Myst 3, the Age Amateria. I downloaded and tweaked a Sketchup model of the building and traced the line art for the perspective and lighting. Thank goodness for today’s resources! I can’t draw something like this, so I’m grateful for something like Sketchup as a tool.
I had to figure out the reflections on my own which is always very difficult, but I learn a little more each time I throw myself against that texture.

I know I already blathered about how amazing this looks, but HOLY HELL DOES THIS EVER LOOK AMAZING. Seriously, there is no weak element here; the color purity is superb, those paint strokes are BEAUTIFUL, your anatomy and creature painting is just beyond rad, and of course, though it goes without saying, AAAA THAT WATER. There's just so much going on here and it is all handled SO BEAUTIFULLY.
And also, thank you for being so open and informative about your resources! I had never noticed that emphasis on vertical shapes in reflected surfaces, but now, being conscious of it, it makes so much sense as to why things reflect the way they do.
