You know, I always prefer characters that have a somewhat evil side, or that at least have a component of anger or bad feelings inside. They have more variety of emotions, and feel more real. That's something I like about your witch girl: while you may feel at times you're facing some fragile equilibrium, and that the wrong word may end bad, nonetheless she's alive; she breathes. She feels real.
