Harold Gruffmane was born with what is considered to be a genetic disability, IE his rather dwarvish stature. But never in his life has Harold let that obstacle get in his way, always striving to do his best in whatever he does. A fine example being his commitment to bodybuilding, despite having to deal with jabs from fellow bodybuilders, as well as work-out devices not meant to be used by one of his size, he has excelled in every aspect of the sport. His only setback a few bodybuilder competitions that, for whatever reason, do not allow him to complete because of his size. Blessed with a positive attitude towards life however, Harold never lets this get him down though, simply moving on to other competitions whose judges don't suffer from such narrow minds.

In 'Slave Gym', Harold befriends Stanislov who instantly takes a liking to the upbeat grizzly wolf. Unfortunately however their first meeting is very short lived, for as soon as Brutus arrives overhearing an insult Harold has uttered about him, the tiger punishes the poor wolf.
