A Rough Sketch 4: The Critical Flop
Are vampires still the 'in' thing? No matter, I felt like drawing a quick vampire bat!
Also decided to deviate from biology a little and try a different wing design, where only two digits support the membrane, giving her functional hands instead of just thumbs. My reasoning behind this being that she probably has enough problems as it is, what with folks thinking she's a rabies-carrying horror movie monster. She can't even smile without freaking people out, ffs.

Real vampire bat faces don't help much, and if you de-emphasise the nose too much, she isn't part of that bat group any more. Depending on what you may have in mind would be to give her more realistic teeth, almost a comic turn, in that the expected image is that of the prominent cuspids, but instead the enlarged incisers, buck teeth.
Perhaps! I was aiming to make her face cute (at least as much as possible while still evoking a vampire bat), but keeping the pointy bat teeth. The idea I had in mind was a normally happy character who can't laugh or grin for fear of scaring people, and comes across as 'emo' or depressed all the time as a result.
Mis-remembered the dentation a bit. Actually a bit worse for her, with the somewhat prominent two front teeth showing in a little grin would look goofy, but a more open smile would show how nasty they are, then the equally wicked cuspids deeper in would make it all the worse. All bats are toothy, but vampires do have more drama
