Y'know, I actually find the melancholy of this piece to be very relaxing. It's a tad on the depressing side, but appeals more to quiet acceptance. Maybe... it just wasn't going to happen.
He'll reflect on it a while, but move on, his disappointment clearing just as those clouds will inevitably give way to the sun.

Well, I might be the millionth person to tell you how impressive this is but it is really pretty amazing. Like everyone else has said it carries a lot of emotional impact too, although I've really gotten more of a quiet loneliness from it than jut sadness. I think melancholy is a very good word for it, sort of like what
Ryuka said.
My favorite touch is the single petal left on the stem the fox is holding.
Anyways, again: fantastic work. Thanks a lot for sharing this.

Blotch, can I please just have this? It's so heart felt and beautiful in so many ways... I love the emotion that is building in his eyes and the way he hold everything. The dramatic sky and the background really add to this piece and I have to say that this is definitely one of your best. I mean that in the best of ways too, because we see sexy, yiffy stuff from you all the time and we see happy moments, but we never get this sort of so true to life (in a way to speak) stuff out of you all the time. I really like it and I think anyone would be a fool to not favorite this.
Actually, it's making me think of a good story idea. Hehe, can I borrow the picture for the story? Either way I'm writing a story now ;)

Interesting you should say that Vulpin. I'm a Museum Studies grad student and lately I've been thinking a lot about the positioning of furry art within mainstream art and its potential for exhibition. Interpreted correctly I think a very successful show or gallery or furry art could be created. There are many artists who are very talented and offer unique expression through their work and it deserves recognition. Does anyone know of furry art being displayed in a curated venue?
Not curated, perhaps, but I know of an art journal that has yet to come out.

Wow quite an intense image, the cloudy overcast sky adds to the mood :( can most definately tell he's not a very happy foxy... makes you just wanna sit down beside him and place an arm over his shoulder and give him a hug saying it'll be ok and try and comfort him as best ya can. I like your style in how you can bring things out in the sketches and art you draw/paint its always stood out.
Aww. This is really sad because I've recently given up on chasing a dear friend of mine for romantic purposes. Aside from the weird hours he works and not being able to talk to him as often as I'd like, I guess it's finally sunk in that... he doesn't like me back, nearly half as much as I like him.
Loves me not...

Wow...that is deep and powerful. I know that I myself have felt that alone and that hurt. Blotch, you have captured it so incredibly well and this piece just speaks volumes as does all of your work. Thank you for capturing the other side of love...the side that hurts and is all to frequent for oh so many of us.
This is definitely a Favorite for me.

Wow. That.. it's hard to put to words how this piece makes you feel. I looked at it at first, an thought 'Damn.. that's an incredibly detailed scene, fox and all' Then, after thinking a bit.. I realized that I was -crying- about it. I've had an incident rather recently, complicated as it is, that fits the theme of this picture a bit too well. Enough I"m afraid to pick up a flower of that kind and do it now. :P Thank you, with everything that I have Blotch, for this picture. It's hard to find a fur artist willing to do something pulling on other emotions than just lust. This, certainly does it. In loads. But yet, for all the deep, burning sensation one gets feeling for the fox, and by extension one's own self, there's another feeling that you want to keep looking at the picture. This would look beautiful on a wall, framed properly to protect it. Excellent work, and my hopes it's not the last of this type that we see!
Oh, an of course.. +fav.. and -fav just to +fav it again!

Wow! I agree with everyone else who's posted: Wonderful detail!
Ah..., he looks like he's just been dumped, or discovered the one who's stolen his heart is not available.
I sure can relate to the latter. First time I ever fell head over heals for someone, I soon discovered she was also unavailable.
This todd needs a big hug.

This piece made me cry believe it or not. My Tucker Fox and I have been on and off for over a year and we never quite found anyone else. We were together for 6 months, broke a part for 4 and lived together on a chance for 1 and now we're apart but missing one another incredibly. This piece combined with one I relate to by Fluke of the k9 sitting on a dock alone at sunset are two pieces that match my feelings and my love's feelings to no end....Thank you Blotch for creating this piece, your work speaks in more ways then you intend and heal a love of two souls. -Anec Wolf
I absolutely love this picture. Very melancholy. I bought a print of this at AC and it's going to hang right over my desk. There are so many emotions expressed in this image...I'm going to use it as a source of inspiration for my writing.
It was wonderful meeting you at AC. Keep up the good work.

I felt *just* like this a while back & just seeing this image made me feel like someone out there understood, I think it is your best work but then I may be biased.

this for the longest time has been my favorite piece of art just as the conflict of emotion that rises from it, it doesn't really give me depression as i believe it should instead it gives me hope for the future. and if it ever does come available in a print i want a big one to put as my main piece in my house
5 years in love with the cutest ans most handsome guy i've ever know... when i confess myself to him he hugs me and says we are friends and he doesn't want to be with me like that...
I still find myself sitting somewhere we used to hang out with that exact same expression... he stoped hangin out with me (I guess it would be weird so I can't realy blame him)
Well... 2013 is a new year, can always find someone else...
Just venting... don't mind me that much. ^^
