Alma Anzar Ruiz, freelance Colugonian pirate.

Alma Anzar Ruiz was born on Colgan to the Anzar and Ruiz families, two rival crime families which joined forces for several years. She was one of the many byproducts of an alliance that ultimately fell apart. While it held together however, Alma was absolutely submerged in the criminal cultures of the cartels. She experienced smuggling and piracy firsthand experience during her time with her family. But in the wake of a divorce that was literally bathed in blood, she found herself fleeing from Colgan space and her parents’ gangs.

Alma took to the stars, doing odd job mercenary work but eventually becoming a bouncer at the Blue Nova, a shady nightclub owned by a Pavolian named Marko Marcel. That job went south however, and eventually she was forced to flee the station with her new friend, Emile Lalique, and her freshly acquired ship, the Honest Mistake. The two formed a very close friendship that is akin to a brother and sister relationship. They have been performing illegal odd jobs (theft, smuggling, mercenary work) since they got their hands on the ship.

Alma is cunning, strong, and certainly knows how to handle herself in a fight. She has a large collection of firearms, a fair amount of knowledge and experience with hand to hand and grappling, and has a respectable set of armor from her days on Colgan. The armor itself supplements her thick skin and strong bones by adding strong plates of armor underneath a reasonable full body energy shield and stronger flat arm shield. The underlay beneath the metal plates has some energy distributors woven into it which attempts to absorb energy weapon fire, and there is a strong weave beneath them to protect against penetrating and slashing weapons.

Alma herself is big and heavy without her armor, as most Colugonians are, but with her armor equipped she comes in at a whopping 995 pounds (a thin Colugonian is about 530 pounds, she has the average 200 pounds of spacer’s fat, and has just about 300 pounds of armor and equipment on herself). She is six feet three inches tall and very strong. Colugonians are well known for their impressive strength and resilience, she is no exception.

Alma is cunning and tactical, but not book smart. She knows how the galaxy works, at least, from a criminal’s perspective. She is quick to anger and easy to frustrate. Violence is not always her first resort, though she does love a good fight and bashing her way through problems in general. She would preferably want to get around a situation without causing a lot of trouble, but at the same time making a respectable amount of money. Most of the time when she is level headed, Alma is very laid back, down to earth, passionate, and practical... even though she has her loud mouthed and brash days. She cares a lot more about other people’s problems than it first appears, often leading her to get caught up in more trouble than Emile would want to deal with. That is why they picked up Kijuuki in the first place.

Alma says that she likes ‘simple things’, such as good food, money, good challenges, and lazy relaxing days.
