I just happened to turn around and see Sheila in her new bowl sampling her dried cranberries. And as a size comparison to her... That's a puffed cheeseball next to her.. She's teeeeeny but cute as a button. I've had her a little over a day and now wonder how I went over 10 years without having a pet rat in the house.
Even if I do have 3 cats my cats are cowards. Metoo was hugging the tank last night. Then he saw the kangaroo rat move from her food dish to her sleeping nest. Metoo backed away from the tank as fast as he could until he hit my other desk and hissed. It scared him!

She didn't stay out long. Just long enough to get a snack. Poor thing's been traumatized. Just a day and a half ago she was a wild rodent in the vast wilderness... of my back yard. And in that day and a half she went from wilds, to salsa jar, to 30 gallon reptile tank, to 10 gallon tank, then had her mansion of paper shreds torn up and the bedding replaced by pine chips.. Now comes the time for stability. No need to worry about predators, no need to worry about where or when the next meal will come. She don't know how good she has it. Even if she is a captive, she'll be well taken care of and live in as much luxury as I can afford her.
