Aaand now for something completely different! I was hoping to have this sketch doodled out by the beginning of the month, but hey-- better late than never! As many of you may know, I have a Patreon account that I treat as a sort of crowd funded commission "pool" that I use to cover my hours for making one very special piece of fanart every month. The more funds I generate, the most elaborate I can get on my work, and the more rewards can wind up happening, too!

The TL;DR of potentially longwinded rambling is that I've really been overwhelmed and humbled by all the kindness and generosity of my wonderful patrons, and I'm so overjoyed to have the opportunity for these personal ventures now on the side of commissions. I've had this scene in my head for a little while now and knew I absolutely wanted to do it for this month's piece; both Journey and Okami had a really profound effect on me, not just as a gamer, but as an artist, and the opportunity to pay those titles a loving homage is really, really wonderful.

This is of course also just a rough (sketchy) comp of what the final will be, which will make its way to FA after I finish it later in the month! I've been using it as an excuse to play with this incredible new Kylebrush watercolor pack I bought the other day, and results so far are super promising for the look I've been after. Seriously, whatever he did to make those brushes is beyond me. They're so worth the 8 bucks and more.
