For Sam starting a new year of school was going to be challenging, though he had known full well what he was getting himself into he was still unprepared for what was to come. Sam was starting a whole new chapter in his life, and he knew that it would not be the same. Collage was something that he had never been through before, obviously, and he was scarred for a lot of things, what if someone found out about his interests? What if they spread them to the whole school? He would be a laughing stock! The truth behind it was that no matter how cool and calm he seemed on the outside, he was horrified on the inside of having to go there. Sam's issue would be better for him if he was still living with his parents while going to school, but he really was curious to live on his own and once the arrangements were made, he knew it would be to late to turn back. So on the wusky went, to a new school and a new part of life, out of his element, and basically away from all the people he loved.
The first day off his school year started with him getting a look at the place he would be living, because of him not being able to decide where he wanted to live he had to take a room for rent from another fur who was also going to the same school as him, as no dorms were available at the time he decided, the other fur had never talked or met him, simply told him the address and that he would be available for a few weeks to help him get ready. So he had contacted him through an email that he had left so that they could get things in order. They had agreed to meet so that Sam could get set up in his new living space. He had driven to house and was buzzed in, he felt unsure of this whole adventure, the person over the intercom seemed to be to... nice, and seemed to throw his service at him as if it was some way to validate his existence. But it was far to late to start judging his new room mate by simply the tone of his voice. He thought to himself as he walked up the stairs. As Sam got to the door it was thrown open and a sudden light flooded the hallway, he squinted and adjusted his eyes to the light. "Hello there! You must be Sam. I'm Jack!" said a voice he could not quite pin down, then as his eyes focused he found it's source. "Wow... You're a wusky too!" Sam said in some amazement. "I take it you don't meet meany others then?" he smiled as he held out a hand, it took Sam a few seconds to realize that he was meant to shake it. "So... I hate to get right to it but... uh can I see the room?" Sam asked and jack looked at him for a second then nodded "Of course. You can call it your room you know, I wont give it away on you, you seem like a good guy so we should have no problem in getting along... In all honesty I probably should have met you in person to show that you would not be living with some murder or something... But I doped the ball there, sorry." Jack said as he lead Sam down a hall to an open door. "It's ok... to be honest I was more scarred of people not excepting me..." Jack looked over his shoulder at Sam "Really? Ah you don't need to worry, some people can be mean, but there are a lot more worth getting to know." Sam looked at him "Oh?" Jack stopped and gestured to the door. "Here she is... in her bare glory." Sam's tail wagged at the sight of the room, it seemed to be warm and pleasant, the knowledge that it was a space that was all his comforted him.
After moving a few pieces of furniture in, with Jacks help, he seemed even happier that the room was his. Jack smiled at him from the kitchen where he was watering his plant. "The best part is that it only grows from here." Sam smiled and looked around the room in wonder and prospect at the idea. "You sound a lot older then a freshmen..." He said before he knew he was saying it, then looked at Jack in shook. "It's ok, I like to think that this isn't my first time around the block... truth to it is, I am a freshmen, but I have done a lot of living in a little time." Sam looked at him "Really? How so? I-If you don't mind my asking?" Jack nodded and opened the fridge, he pulled out a bottle of water and walked to Sam's door frame and leaned against it. "If you want to here a depressing story who am I not to give you one? It started out pretty normal, your average apple pie life, then as I grew up I ruined it... I moved away from some one who was emotionally stable but had no rhythm and moved to some one who was emotionally unstable but had rhythm... I made my self miserable." Sam looked at him confused "Why not just move back, if you knew you made a mistake?" jack pointed to him and swallowed. "That is the question, truth is I left in a fit of rage, but as angry as I got, and as much as he drove me to the edge I never wanted to go back... I'm not sure why exactly... Maybe I didn't want to use up the love those people felt for me, because I knew it was finite... Maybe it was simply because I was stubborn... not sure but I stayed until I was so miserable I couldn't go on, I pretty much could blame the people in my life for all my problems, then I realized people don't matter, that it was my life. And I was all that mattered. I rode the storm to the edge of my mind, and found inner peace." Jack gestured all around him. "And it brought me here, the greatest loss can give way to the greatest joy." He looked at his watch and smiled "I had better get to bed... Night." Sam looked at his paws "N-night..."
Sam found that night hard to sleep, he felt uncomfortable in his new surroundings and he was having trouble finding a way to adjust. He finally managed to close his eyes for good due to pure exhaustion. jack was dully aware of another living thing in his room far before he was awake, he had come used to it as a child. He quickly flexed and his ears pricked, trying to locate where the thing was, then he threw himself out of bed and landed on the floor with a steel alarm clock in hand and stopped before he hit his room mate in the head. Sam however did not seemed to notice him. Jack new almost instantly at that point what was happening. "Poor guy... Having trouble dealing with something?" he asked and Sam nodded with his eyes shut. "I'm scarred of the monsters daddy..." he said sleepily and in very much the tone of a small cub. "Is that so? Well we had better get you back to bed, I promise they wont get you." Jack put a hand on Sam's shoulder and tried to guide him to his room. Sam would not budge "C-can I sleep with you tonight daddy? I promos to be good!" Sam begged, Jack thought over his choices in the matter and scowled at his room mate "Fine... You can sleep with me tonight... Not like I can get you to go to bed any other way..." he patted one side of the bed "But you keep to your side yeah? nothing to cheeky." Sam nodded and got into the bed. "Thank you daddy, I love you." Jack smiled. "Yeah I like you to pup..." Jack threw himself to his side and was soon fast asleep.
When morning came Jack woke up odd, Sam was licking his ear vigorously, and when he stured in his sleep he woke Sam up. "Um... What the hell is this?!" said a shrill voice, which woke up Jack. "Morning Beth... shall I make the coffee or is it your turn?" Jack said as he rubbed his eyes and sat up next to Sam. "Oh god Beth you really let yourself go- Sam! It's you... Wait that's not right... oh..." Sam looked at him "W-what am I doing in your bed?!" Jack rubbed his head. "You weren't sleeping well so you came and bothered me until I let you sleep in my bed." Sam scoffed "Oh and I bet no drugs were used in the making of the fantastic scene!" Jack put a finger to Sams mouth. "You can choose not to believe me. But let me at least finish first my fantastic tale of woe." "You wondered into my room and kept calling me daddy, and said you were afraid of the monsters... Wild guess that you don't remember dreaming at all last night? yeah that's cause your brain didn't shut off last night, more like put on stand by so you could deal with whatever was stressing you out." Sam sat awe struck. how did he know what Sam was thinking last night... He was not sure what to believe but he chose to believe Jack for the time being. "Now how about some coffee?" Jack smiled seeing that his truth had gotten through to Sam.
Once they were sat down and they both had coffee in hand Jack seemed much less alert, he seemed to be focusing on something else altogether. "Jack!" Sam said, not for the first time in hopes of keeping his attention. "What on earth is so interesting." Jack smiled and looked into the cup of coffee. 'See I am a very smart fur, and delight myself in a little hobbie, I like to read people." Sam looked at him "Like those crazy people on TV?" "No not like that, I like to analyze people based on little subque's that they give, I can tell someone's whole life story simply by the art they like. I'm not always right, but this is a hobbie so it doesn't matter to me if I am because it's all for fun." Sam looked scarred "And you think you know all about me?" Jack laughed. "No, not everything... But I have a good guess about most things. You can feel free to tell me anything you know, I'm a very open guy... And I promise it will stay with just you and me." he put his paw on Sam's and patted it, then took it away and drank his coffee. "I-I don't think I can trust someone I met a day ago..." Jack nodded. "S'ok I get that." Sam bit the bottom of his lip."But you probably know anyway so.... huh crap.... I like to wear diapers as a sort of... well fetish I guess but...." Jack cocked an eyebrow "But...?" "But it's not really sexual and I... Don't often do it for that reason.... Actually I do it for a number of reasons." Jack nodded as he processed the information "Alright, everyone needs a safety blanket and I guess that's yours." Sam looked at him again confused. "What?" "Your safety blanket, the thing you do to release stress and worry." Sam smiled. "Yeah that's it but it's really more of a cause for stress and worry than anything else." Jack got up and stretched "Well you can do it anytime here I don't mind. I'm not going to tell you what's right. I am however going to take a shower." he set his cup in the sink and went to the bathroom.
Once Jack was out he started to get dressed in his room, Sam came by Jack smiled "Caught me at a good time you did, how does a tour of the campus sound?" Sam's tail wagged "Sounds awesome. You know about it?" Jack smiled bigger. "No bloody clue, but someone there should know something." he finished getting dressed and then waited by the door for Sam to do the same, once Sam ready they left. The day after that was pretty good for Sam, they met up with a nice girl who was one of Jack's friends, she showed them everywhere they needed to know and even gave a stupid little speech about each different place. Once they had finished with the tour of grounds Jack suggested they all go to lunch, the girl declined saying she had some packing to do, but Sam very much liked the idea of exploring the area near by, he knew it would give him better ground. Jack took them to a little western style restaurant not to far from the school. Once seated they started to talk. "So I noticed that for a guy who likes wearing that kind of stuff, you don't do it to much..." Sam smiled "Sir are you suggesting that I strip down and wear nothing but my 'underwear' for the rest of the day?" Jack smiled and rubbed the back of his head "Well..." Sam pushed his arm "Pig!" he laughed, Jack laughed to and the conversation doped off when the food came.
"So if you were so afraid to come here, why did you?" "I don't know... I wanted to try something new, but I was afraid to be so far away from my friends and family." Jack nodded at Sam. "You were afraid that if you needed help, they would be to far to do anything... But that happens a lot, I mean one day those people might move on their own, they might get tied up with something more important, they might die, or get sick." Sam looked at his food. "Yeah I know, I was also scarred that I might not be able to wear at all because my room mate might barge in on me. or people might find out and make fun of me." Jack put a hand on his shoulder "If your room mate ever does an asshole thing like that, I'll throw him off a roof." Sam chocked a little on his food and giggled. "You are a good fur, I am glad I met you Jack." "Thank you, I'm glad I met you to."`Jack smiled and began to eat quickly, blushing slightly. After dinner they started to walk around, Sam told Jack a bit about his life. On the ride home Sam was starting to get rather sleepily and was making no effort to hide it, he dragged his feet loosely and yawned almost like clockwork, he would also rub his eyes from time to time. When they had gotten through the door Jack was practically carrying him. Jack set him down on the couch while he got something to drink, when he came back Sam was asleep. He chuckled to him self and picked Sam up, who was much heavier than he looked, and took him to bed. he tucked Sam in and went to bed himself.
Jack woke up several hours latter when he noticed a figure in his doorway. "Go back to bed Sam it's late." Jack huffed as he got up to lead him back. Sam looked down at his pants. "Daddy I need a change..." he said with the tone of a little cub. Jack swore silently under his breath. "You do?" Sam nodded and Jack started to lead him back to bed. Jack laid Sam down in the bed, then quickly found his diapers under the bed, he began to go through the motions of changing him, Sam sat there smiling as he griped a blanket in one hand and sucked on his own thumb. Jack had spent a lot of time looking after children in his youth, he bought his first car with the money he made by working at a day care. Jack new what he was doing, he had been through this situation many times before, but this time seemed different, he looked at Sam and felt something different, even though Sam was an adult and almost the same size as Jack he saw Sam as a small weak little cub that needed to be cared for, for the first time he actually saw Sam as a cub. Once jack had Sam's mess mostly cleaned up, he tucked Sam in and as he bent down Sam's head lifted up "Good night Jack."
