After the break up of Cupcake no More the Mane 6 all went to pursue different projects. Ryan and Felix who were best friends since childhood stuck together as they always did. One night during a Breeds of the Herd Age concert they met with Dusty Sparks, also former member of Cupcake No More and his roommate Spike Drakon. They discussed the idea of creating a band with two lead guitarists that went in a heavier direction than CNM. The rest is history really.

The name came from the movie Quake, which featured the creature Tatzelwurm. Ryan and Dusty were big fans.
