This is my lovely new and second blind cat, Stevie! He says hello to all and has been coping very well with his new surroundings. This picture was taken at the end of a petting session with him a few days ago. He is very particular about when he likes to be pet!

Anyway, I thought I'd post this here to raise some awareness that there is a contest going on for animal shelters to win a grand makeover of their shelter!

Blind cats hold a special place in my heart, and it all started when I adopted a little cat named Wiggles from a local Animal Friends shelter about 2.5 years ago. Since then, my appreciation and adoration for blind and disabled cats has grown immensely.

Now, I follow the Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary on Facebook and they need help with the contest to win a huge makeover for their shelters! They are an amazing non-profit organization that formed in 2005 with the hopes of giving loving and permanent homes to all blind cats in need. Blind cats that are rescued are instantly given proper medical care, love, and a forever home at the sanctuary.

Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary ALSO save and home FIV/FELV+ cats, which are given the same exact luxuries as the blind cats!

Thank you all SO much! I will be happy with whichever shelter wins this opportunity, but I think it would be a fantastic way to raise awareness of the less-likely-to-be-adopted cats, which suffer with either blindness or FIV/FELV.
