Kotori the Werewolf Doll
Kotori (which means screech owl in Hopi), the werewolf!
He's about 13" tall and has a fully poseable (plastic) skeleton inside. I love making these guys!
A bunch more pics and adoption info at: http://foxloft.com/art-dolls/werewolves/kotori
*As a side note, I know the source of each of the furs I use for making these and other craft pieces. I mostly use fur from rabbits which were raised as food, and I am both cognizant and aware of where my materials come from. None of the furs come from animals taken solely for fur purposes.

Fully poseable skeleton?
Might I ask, some people kill animals and mash together fur and bones to make stuff...
On DeviantArt there was a business called Zombinals in which they would kill 3 animals and put the remains together to make 'art'.
It was considered a form of taxidermy and they got away with it for years until some states made it illegal for the purchase and making of said corpse art. It was disgusting, and involved the unpreserved remains of cats, dogs, wolves, possums, raccoons, and rodents.
This doesn't have a bunch of animals bones shoved in it or an animal pelt draped over it, or preserved animal eyeballs like some artists have used in their artwork.
Mind you, Texans and Alaska have made it illegal for animals to have rights and values, and its against the law to press charges against someone who kills your pets, as well as illegal to take action against someone who kills your pets, as only livestock are protected under their laws.

I don't have a general problem with using real fur/leather - especially when the animal was harvested for food (most of my doll furs are from food rabbits) - I think there is a respectful way of using natural materials like this and being cognizant and responsible about your sources. I know it's a touchy subject for many people, and of course anyone harming pets (or animals in general without respect and purpose) is not ok - but I don't think fur, taxidermy, or the use of parts is in and of itself a problem, just the manner in which some people go about it.
I never expected this... there are more people killing animals solely for money and claiming it as art than people who care about animals.
An animal killed for art and entertainment should be a crime, but apparently its acceptable in the eyes of some.
You mentioned that you support taxidermy, as well as killing animals solely for parts.
As taxidermy teaches that one can put together the corpse of a cat bird and lizard and call it science and art... you quite hit a nerve.
There has never before been a teacher of taxidermy in the USA or a school in the USA that taught merging multiple corpses together from different species is wrong, and all people who apply that refuse to merge multiple corpses from different species are denied any means of good grades fail the most vital courses of taxidermy. As my family has sought such a thing before in multiple states, this is fact that cannot be denied.
Killing an animal solely for a bone, organ, fur, feather, or scale that you value is a waste of a life that is despicable, and many species have been driven to extinction on all continents for these selfish heartless cruel acts of obsession.
Also, native-Americans would openly oppose your views, and view them as an act of opposition towards their way of life. You would never find anything other than hatred if you went to a reservation. It's sad. I've found acceptance.
Hopefully you will learn to value the lives of wild animals. As someone who has watched you here on FA for years and supported you for years... this discovery is unpleasant and disturbing... and I hate knowing an artist I love does not love animals in spite of saying it in their profile...

I come from the local native community. Fur, feathers, and leather are used in most regalia and with great respect.
I did not say that I think killing animals solely for entertainment or art is ok, I do not. I said that I am ok with using certain animals for food and ALSO utilizing their parts in the process - like rabbits who are raised for meat and also used for fur in addition. I have spent many years working for and with animals through wildlife rehabilitation and educational programs, I have a lot of respect for their lives and nature as it is. I am NOT ok with exploiting animals just for the sake of it or no reason, but I don't think that just because something uses fur it is evil, either, it depends on where it comes from, the intention, and how the animal was raised/processed/used (i.e. humanely raised and slaughtered for meat and then the bones/fur/etc. used - otherwise it would just rot and I don't see how that is somehow better).
I'm sorry if this has made you upset, I don't think our views are so far off and I am not saying that killing animals for no reason other than calling it art is ok. I HAVE seen respectfully done taxidermy - like someone who has a beloved pet pass away of old age and decides to keep some part of them - it's not something I want myself but I don't see how that is hurting the animal (who hopefully had a very good life, was loved, and passed away) - similarly a hunter who takes a deer for food then chooses to keep the mount - I am not against this. Like I said it's a touchy subject for most people and we all come from different backgrounds. I respect your beliefs and want to protect all animals - I have spent much of my time actively doing the same - I'm just saying I don't think JUST because it's fur automatically makes it evil - or good.

I'm not sure where you are coming from? I said I approved of what you do.
It seems your stuffing words in my mouth like Dark_zorse.
I once called you friend, but you attack me without rhyme and reason.
You can use fur, especially with how you use fur. Just stop verbally attacking me for liking your art.
All I ever say is how I like your art and how I like that you don't kill animals to make it.
Why do you hate me so much? Why is it you and everyone else is blocking me for liking you and your art?
And why did Dark_Zorse name an organization that admitted it hunted several pheasant species to extinction call it a group that preserves life and block me the moment I mentioned how that organization is cruel?
Ah, your choice in friends and supporters, not mine.

You don't appear to have any working knowledge of art, or the proper respect for animal parts. In implying parts should be wasted instead of utilized, YOU are the one who encourages waste, and YOU are the one I suspect a Native American would lecture for having the wasteful ideology. Foxfeather has made it BLATANTLY OBVIOUS that the animal was not killed explicitly for fur, yet you felt the need to post this venomous diatribe anyway.
For your information, if it weren't for hunters conserving species, then a lot of species wouldn't even exist today. Hunters are responsible almost single-handedly for the conservation and restoration of Wood Ducks, White-Tailed Deer, Elk, American Alligators and a variety of other game species. Not to mention organizations like the Mule Deer Foundation, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, donate hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours and money every year to help conserve not just their target species, but all species that share the habitat. Things that you seem to conveniently forget when confronted with something like this.
Hopefully you learn that those of us who value the animal resources - and utilize them for ALL the things they provide be it meat, fur, leather, horn, antler, feathers, or other materials - are the ones who provide for their future, not people like you.

Actually... hunters for the past 80 years have made up less than 5% of all donations to environmental charities and preservation.
Hunters also are responsible for the past million species through-out the USA in the past 80 years that where hunted to extinction.
You have no knowledge of hunting, environmental aptitude, conservation, and worse, you support killing outside of livestock...
You are the opposite of everything associated with preserving life and preventing extinction of life. You literally hate animals.
Next time you support an organization that drove various forms of birds to extinction in spite of the organizations name, you'll realize your a retard. Research the groups you support stupid!

Really? I would have hoped you would have a cohesive argument for me, or perhaps some numbers to throw at me instead of blanket generalizations. Nope! How droll.
I could tell you what precisely I have done for conservation - which is more in any single day than the average person does in a lifetime - but you'd simply sit here and squeal out the same old argument that I can't possibly know according to whatever vague concept you are using as a standard.
So. Seeing as how you have failed in your provenance of information, here is your homework.

Start there. Work outwards.
By the way, I suggest you don't call me a retard. In calling me a name you have not only advertized you have nothing valuable to bring to the table, but you also have used a slur which no few people on this site would tolerate. I suggest you watch your wordage.

You know? I've always have had a fascination for the Hopi Kachina Dolls. I figure that sooner or later, that a "Furry" element would come into play as the Hopi would most likely respect the "Animal-People" because they are closer to Nature. I really like all the details you've put into this figure.
I love kachina dolls as well! Way back when, for my senior project in college, I made a white bear kachina under the guidance of a Hopi and Laguna carver. A lot of their dancer spirits are anthropomorphic by nature and are really neat! http://foxloft.com/image/bear-katsina
Huh? And here I always thought that particular Katsina was "White Buffalo." Shows you what I know. Once again it's an amazing piece of work. Did you ever see that old Gumby episode where the little hero made of green clay jopped into a book about the South West, and befriended a Hopi boy who was trying to make an appeal to the Kachinas to bring rain? I believe that's how I got hooked on Hopi art.
