This was inspired by the Gamescon trailer for Rise of Lyric. I wanted to show the aftermath of Sonic getting hurt after running ahead, but then I realized...this isn't a new character trait. Don't know the context for this scene until the game comes out but Sonic has run ahead of his friends, or pushed them to safety while he fought on alone quite a few times. And even though in the end it works out sometimes he gets out just by the skin of his teeth. I was sort of surprised by how many near-death experiences he's had in previous games.
Also, sort of wondering if there's a reason why Sonic starts out as a loner in Sonic Boom. Like maybe something happened when he was younger? Speculations away~!
