I love your simple background, it make a great contrast with characters, they look more important in the scene. =3

Simple backgrounds should offer a more stylized look if done correctly and main characters with simpler designs are always best for comics, because if you're going to draw them over and over you don't want them to be too complicated ha. You save the cool designs for characters that only appear for a few segments and all that.

So far though I like the background and from what I see of the character the design should be easy to keep doing!
