It's been a few weeks now since we adopted Loki the Saluki, and even though he's still shy and not overly confident, he's slowly coming out of his shell and showing us a glimpse of his character.
He's such a sweetie, though not one for too much fuss, he does like to come over and put his head on my lap for a good neck scratch.
He can be quite the clown at times, and always puts a smile on my face-and though it probably sounds crazy, I swear at times he's smiling back.

Sadly we've discovered that it's highly likely he was beaten up by a previous owner due to some behaviour we've spotted and spoken to vets about.
There are times when he's sleeping where he literally cries, we can hear it all the way upstairs. That's when I like to come down and sit beside him as he sleeps and just stroke him to know everything's ok now.
It saddens me beyond words the pain animals are put through by people, but I think what hurts more is how loving they remain and how they can trust again.

One things for certain, Loki will be cherished until his last days with our family, and we both feel so blessed to have him in our lives,
