i suppose it is full of orange worms that can burst thru his skin in random places, harden, and do a bunch of neat other things
and is an alien or something

the species has grown an incredibly specific symbiotic relationship with a species of worms. The worms, technically a parasite, but a very convenient lifetime partner, are generally united with members of the species at birth, replacing most of their previous vital organs in both volume and function

the worms aren't conscious, but their behavior can be influenced by the host, in the sort of way that our minds can affect unconscious functions of our own bodies (like being able to keep ur boner down by trying to purify your thoughts)?? Stuff like that.

they grow up with these worms in their body so they get really really good at willing the worms, even though they aren't exactly conscious. they're taught to control their own conscious in such a way that manipulates the actions of the worms !!

The worms basically benefit them in a bunch of ways -- increased injury recovery (though limbs are irreplaceable and heavy brain trauma is irreparable), shock absorption, strength, more efficient metabolism, etc. BUT they kind of strip out individuality (which was already rare in an asexual species)

The species was originally asexual, but the sexually reproducing parasite worms provide for a special interaction B)
(basically an excuse to fuck things *trying waters)
