Because it may be seen as someone not taking their respect for gender and agender pronouns seriously. Also, I assume that the mention to privilege in the description is a reference to the assertion that white males have a special privilege over the rest of western society, which they perpetuate.
It's making fun of the transtrenders who have pissy fits about their made up pronouns that they change all the time, Hence the "Die Human Scum" tattoo on their shoulder.
There's a difference between people who actually suffer from GID and teenagers on Tumblr who come up with ways to be trans, while not suffering from any kind of dysphoria and being comfortable with their assigned gender, but still want to be special and unique.

Your comment made me think of this. Figure it's fitting.

'Can' and 'Should' seem to occupy the same status as 'Is' and 'Ought.' The connection between them needs to be established. I CAN be a giant dick to every human being in the world. Toxic levels of abolute liberty mean I can actually complain about anyone complaining about such unfettered liberty. But the questin remains if I should. 'Can' does not constitute its own argument.
I personally see nothing wrong with making jokes about horrible things under the right situation and context. The whole purpose is to make light of these things for coping reasons, so we deal with them better.
Almost anyone who laughs at, say, a joke about a baby getting impaled on a spike, isn't laughing BECAUSE the baby is impaled on a spike. They're laughing at the ridiculousness of it, the way the joke was phrased or irony used in the method. The actual subject used for the joke just provides the context for that kind of situation and delivery, nothing more.
And there's nothing wrong with that.

Can there be qualifiers to that? You seem to imply that objections are indefensible and so you are solely correct.
"I don't find this funny... because I know real flesh and blood human beings for whom this is an actual issue, in the area of human rights." Does that constitute a more acceptable statement?

The trouble is that people who actually suffer from GID usually get accused of just "coming up with ways to e trans". Words like 'transtender" are basically the verbal equivalent of cluster munitions; they are not very precise, and most of the targets they hit are collateral damage.
Lots of people like to bitch about "made-up" pronouns, as if it is a terrible burden. How dare they ask their friends to keep track of their gender. They should just shut up and go enjoy their 41% suicide attempt rate and leave the rest of us in peace.

They should. The whole point of a pronoun is to have a general method of referring to someone. If you want something specific, you use their given name, or the name they ask to be referred to by. Or, even worse, if they have the fucking balls to say that you offended them by referring to them by a gender that they were a few hours ago, but suddenly not now.
I'm sorry, but I will never, absolutely never, call someone "Zher/Xir/Shur" seriously. It will never happen. There is literally no reason to try and ask someone to do this other than your own sense of special snowflakiness. Male/Female? He/She is fine. Something in between? They. Making your own up for the sake of being special just screams "I need attention!"
I know people are legitimately trans, and see the kind of horrible shit they go through daily. The amount of effort they have to expend to be accepted, to be taken seriously. And all of these people coming in trying to cash their oppression checks while having no real fucking problems, and pretty much hijacking a legitimate movement, piss me the fuck off.

Oh, I agree those weird ones that aren't even words are pretty damn silly. Wasn't sure that you meant that by "made-up pronouns". (Some people might consider a pronoun made-up if it's being applied in a manner that doesn't align with the chromosomes, after all.) Can't even figure out how to pronounce them sometimes, and half the time I ask it's homophonic with an existing pronoun.
some kids are experimenting though. this is tbh kind've a truscum statement. gender isn't a solid thing, like if i decided all of a sudden i was agender, that doesn't mean i can't change my gender later. it's experimentation, and considering most users on tumblr are teenagers, they're still learning who they are. how dare young teens and children find happiness or interest in referring to themselves as dragons and stardust on a blogging website, how dare they oppose the doldroms of life.
you don't need to have dysphoria to be uncomfortable with your gender and want to switch it.
you don't need to have dysphoria to be uncomfortable with your gender and want to switch it.
The fact that you used to the term "Truscum" unironically pretty much tells me everything I need to know.
And yes, actually, you DO have to have it. It is the primary method of actually diagnosing GID. Because if you did not feel uncomfortable with your body versus your gender, you would not KNOW that you would want to change it. That dysphoria is what tells your brain, "Hey, this is wrong, I need to change it." Because otherwise, it's not actually GID. It's just you being moody or trying your hardest to be special and unique.
Gender isn't something you experiment with. It is an inherent part of you, and if something is off, you will know it pretty damn quickly. An extremely large majority of people who have GID know from an early age that something is wrong. They don't just wake up one day and go "Oh man, I totally feel like my body doesn't match up! Guess I'm a girl/boy/dog/galaxy now!" That doesn't happen.
As I said before, in a different reply: I know people are legitimately trans, and see the kind of horrible shit they go through daily. The name calling, the constant struggle and pain they feel because of their body, the amount of effort they have to expend to be accepted, to be taken seriously by a world that largely thinks they're a bunch of freaks or perverts. And all of these people coming in trying to cash their oppression checks while having no real fucking problems, and pretty much hijacking a legitimate movement, piss me the fuck off.

but body and gender are not the same thing. you can be male-bodied and female-bodied but still feel that you're genderfluid or agendered, or a plethora of other variants. and if gender is an inherent part of you, then why do people feel the need to experiment? people are going to discover who they are. it took me a while to find out who i was, and i settled on it. at first i thought i was trans, then i thought i was gender fluid, and now i've realized i'm bigendered. it's a process of trial and error. there are nonbinary people as well as trans people, and to see just a thick line in the middle of it all as either trans or cis is almost mind blowing, that you have to force your ideologies on everyone else.
if someone is otherkin or even nonbinary and asking you to use pronouns other than she/he/they, why rain on their parade? why make them uncomfortable? it's literally a process of going out of your way to make someone upset. good job putting down an experimenting teenager!!!! aren't you proud, mr/ms adult! another thing is some otherkin don't wholeheartedly believe they are in a past life, or buried away, some sort of canine or galaxy, sometimes they just have that desire to have something to relate to. maybe they don't have a good life, but stars and moons make them happy, so they relate to it. not that it's even bad that they genuinely believe they're some sort of god or goddess, some sort of plant or fish. it's a way to cope and be happy.
i have many trans friends, a majority of them supporting or they themselves being otherkin. the only people who make otherkin an issue are the people like you who proclaim that gender is some sort of prognosis or disease that needs to be cured.
>fucking lol oppression checks smh

I can tell that no amount of debate will get through to your head. You have very little understanding of how gender (not sex, gender) and biology works based on how you describe it, you actually used the term "truscum" and "smh" unironically, you're trying to justify people who make up words to be special, AND you're telling me I'm making claims that I never actually made.
You pretty much scream "Tumblrina," and I do not see this going anywhere useful. There is no way you're going to convince me that kids trying on gender labels (most of which do not actually exist), or just grab for shits and giggles should be taken seriously, or that "Xir/Sher/Zher" are actual pronouns worthy of merit. Just how I will not be able to convince you that biology and psychology does in fact real, and that just because you feel something to be true, does not automatically make it so.

This thread cracks me up. The irony of furries making fun of someone for wanting social acceptance for harmless but ridiculous-seeming behavior.
"Damn tumberinas and their made up genders. Now to post about how fursecuted I am at work for wearing my 'hug me I'm yiffy' tee shirt."
"Damn tumberinas and their made up genders. Now to post about how fursecuted I am at work for wearing my 'hug me I'm yiffy' tee shirt."
What makes you think I want anyone to take me seriously? All I do is fap to weird porn, there's nothing even remotely serious about it. It's no one's business but my own. Seriously, only people who think they're 'fursecuted' are stupid teenagers who want to be a part of something different.
because you compared trans problems and otherkin problems as vastly different issues but the truth stands that most otherkin are trans. disrespecting otherkin is usually also disrespecting trans people.
i just don't understand why something small like being otherkin, which makes people happy or is a coping mechanism, is so hated and fought against. it is such a petty thing in a sea of other issues. literally inconceivable to me why folk are pricks about it.

Because is ridiculous. Is stupid and pointless and it trivializes the problems from genuine groups such as transgender folk. Also, your claim that most otherkin and transgender and this both are equally valid is both retarded and insensitive. What the vast majority of transgender people want is to live normal lives as the gender they identify to, and this causes them to suffer a great amount of discrimination and violence. Many times trans people are killed just because of what they are. And yet you compare that to a bunch of morons who want to bark and yelp in public or demand to be allowed to wear wolf tails to work? Otherkin are just like Otakin, Navikin, "real" vampires and other similar groups. A joke nobody on their right mind supports.
trans people are valid and it's horrible those things happen to them, yes, but as i said prior most otherkin people are trans and in fact do go through the same things as trans people who aren't otherkin go through.
i think you'd benefit reading this
you seem really bitter and angry. hope you have fun with that.

I'm going to peel back the onion on your reply:
"i just don't understand why something small like being otherkin, which makes people happy or is a coping mechanism,"
This is called escapism, which not only applies to otherkin but the majority of the furry community. Take some time and evaluate various furs around you entered the fandom. Don't ask them or you're not going to get a proper answer, analyze. Most furries join the fandom out of escapism, their life sucks, they fail at life(social or work), medical issues, etc etc. There's a portion of those who are artists then there's another set of those who are in the fandom who don't have any issues at all.
So your statement on otherkin, applies to most furries but not due to trans, due to other issues.
Now, to answer your statement, I fight against and crush such escapism. I'm not interested in the fandom for people being all hugs and friendly, I'm interested in the stories and fursuiting/creativity in the purest form. Escapism of this form is NEGATIVE and not good for a person socially, emotionally and rips the person away from reality. If a person wanted to escape from life, there are plenty of things a person can do. Otherwise I usually see the person turning to Tumblr and even becoming the "You CIS scum" types.

Interesting, just read it. I completely agree with every topic there. I see much of that in the furry fandom. Personally I'm the type of person to wear a suit and tie going to meetings and making decisions(yeah I'm a bastard 1%). Ever since I was young I've never put friendship over business and even those who are/were/or are on/off friends who I've burned have always learned from me.
The major problem I've seen in this fandom is the "we accept everyone" mentality no matter if the person is a sex offender, does hard drugs, does illegal shit but never in front of the wrong people, etc etc. We as a group need to ensure others know socially unacceptable behavior is not tolerable. We don't live in a lawless world, we don't live in a society where anything goes, so why do furries want to believe ill behavior is okay?
Though eh, I'd like to hope people would grow past their dysfunctions eventually, who knows. There will always be people like Chris Chan and others who are in the fandom because well you know.... life is shit and they never got a chance/attempted to take over the world/etc.

Also +1 for someone who would buy the he'll out of that shirt.
My "Natural Born Oppressor" one is getting a little soft in the threads. We need people like you perpetuating common sense. Remember kids, it's okay to say truscum but it's not okay to draw a picture. I fucking hate tumblrs garbage.

I apologize for IttyBittyShark.
I am active in the social reform movement in the state of Colorado, both with funding and with my time. Part of what I do includes research and education. IttyBittyShark has good intentions at heart, however, her methods are aggressive and incorrect. Media and artwork should never be restricted in any capacity for any reason, and instead, we work to focus on enlightening young minds. Her methods actually damage the the movements I work very actively to advance, And I hope that her offensive and aggressive actions do not cause you to become resentful of LGBT people in general. I, and the LGBT movements I represent do not in any way shape or form support or endorse IttyBittyShark's message here.
That said, This is a a nice piece and I like it. :)

not to snoop but can you enlighten me as to how i'm being aggressive? i'm angry, yes, but i feel like i've covered up showing it. not only that, i never had problem with the artist's picture (though a bit frustrating). i don't believe in censoring art as it is supposed to invoke controversy and feeling. i'm mad because folk are disrespecting a mainly teen audience (otherkin) for their coping mechanisms and what makes them happy.
i don't give you permission to silence or apologize me, nothing of me is on your behalf.

did you not see me say that most otherkin are in fact trans gendered and DO understand what it is like to be trans and that they DO every single day deal with trans discrimination because they ARE trans? most otherkin are trans. i think everyone is glancing over the fact that i said most otherkin are trans because they're saying the issues are incomparable. being otherkin and trans are two different things but most otherkin are trans folk.
not only that, most otherkin understand that people in real life aren't going to call them by pronouns such as bun/kit/etc. because they know people aren't going to know what otherkin are outside of the internet. this isn't something that just goes over their head. the thing that hurts them is just that people are deliberately disrespectful.

Totally late commenting on this, but eh, what the hell. Long post ahoy!
I personally, as a transgender person and as a human in general, don't really have an issue with the majority of Kins. I believe in things like reincarnation, that life is a form of energy I guess you could say, cycled over and over again taking on many different forms as it goes. You may be a human now, but after death you might start life over again as anything from a simple blade of grass, an animal (including birds, fish, insects, so on), or maybe even a human again. It's a spiritual belief of mine and I can get behind it and similar views, as well at the feeling of being trapped and misplaced in your own body.
If you feel like you're missing that past form and are experiencing a kind of dysphoria I can totally understand that. If you think your spirit or soul doesn't match your species and you want to do things to ease that discomfort, then go right on ahead if it makes you happy. Wear a tail around the house or during recreation, modify your body, wear a collar, spend some time out in the wilderness getting back in touch with nature and having some time to just act like the animal you feel you are.
HOWEVER! First off, this shouldn't be disabling your ability to function in human society. No, you shouldn't wear your tail or other blatantly obvious things of that nature in a professional setting, for example your place of employment if it doesn't allow for such things. Just like a gay person shouldn't wear a rainbow pride shirt to the office, or how a BDSM sub shouldn't wear their collar round their students, and even like a furry-lifestylist shouldn't wear their fursuit while rushing around cooking in a restaurant. You also shouldn't be going around acting like a damn fool growling at people and disrupting others in general, using being an otherkin as an excuse for bad behavior.
Second: I'm sorry, but nobody's going to take you seriously when you're running around telling them that you're a pokemon, digimon, dragon, or Navi trapped in a human body. You know just as well as I do that it's a load of bull, you are not now, nor have you ever been or will be a non-existent fictional or mythical creature. Stop it. You're being childish.
Third, last, but defiantly not least: Animals have genders! He, she, shi, they pronouns. Just because you think you're a cat or a dragon, doesn't mean you need the special pronoun of purrself or dragonself or any other ridiculous thing you can come up with. Enough. Quit begging for attention to feed your need to feel special and different. This is insulting to people who are trans, gender-fluid and a-gender. It just makes it even harder for us to have our GENDER viewed as valid and real.

Haha! Sorry, I meant the people who take this seriously. I've met some... Interesting... People who insist on silly, none-gender identity related pronouns and some that claim to be fictional species, as well as rabid otherkin haters. So I couldn't resist butting in and putting my two cents in there. XD

Words do not express how much I love this. <3
As someone who was confused about my own gender, I find this deeply hilarious and no where near insulting. cx
Of course, it's dark humor and not something made to offend people. (Which is a deep hatred of mine when it comes to people assuming someone is trying to offend them when it's clearly not, but if it does, sorry fam anyway. :U)
I know this was posted around 2 years ago, but this is truly beautiful.
And we should all laugh at the dark humor and even, the dark truth. c:
Life is hard and short. Laugh at the bad, fam.
Also, I identify as a dick sponge just to meme myself off. <3
