"We all walk a lonely road towards what makes us complete. Still, we don't have to be strangers in this journey called life. In learning, in fighting, in living... together, we are far stronger."
To call Team Junkyard a 'team' is generally correct, even though they are often called a 'gang' by most other teams, and rightly so. All in all, they're a bunch of decent kids with bad pasts who found each other and became something between a support group and a hooligan club... well, three of them, anyway. Their fourth member is the black Flaafy of the group, but is also a diamond in the proverbial rough.
Karma's life wasn't as harsh as Edge's, as empty as Five's, nor as self-destructed as K-Rush's, but it was one that didn't prepare her for the 'real' world. The child of Purists, a small quasi-cult of pokemorphs seeking to distance themselves from the 'madness and spiritual emptiness' of the modern day, Karma grew up with few of the things that most young pokemorphs take for granted, and was given in its place a surprisingly rigorous regimen than was meant to hone body and mind, bringing them as close to the Way Things Were as the day and age could allow. However, even considering their attempts to keep free of outside influence, the Purists did have external contact from time to time, and one of these visitors was an old friend of one of the battlers-turned-leaders (and Karma's personal tutor, a Hitmonchan named Caldera) of the local Purist camp, Jethro Biggs.
Mainly there to collect recyclables and talk shop with said old friend, he took a liking to the young Heracross and would, much to her parents' dismay, occasionally bring sweets and comic books with him, things Karma was rather firmly 'suggested' she shouldn't partake of. Eventually, Jethro himself was confronted, and told that he was no longer welcome to visit the Purist camp and would have to leave at sunrise. It would come to a shock to the Wigglytuff when, carrying a duffel bag containing all her belongings, Karma followed him out of the camp, having worked up the courage to leave behind all she knew to 'see the world'. At first wary, Jethro nonetheless took her along after getting confirmation from Caldera.
That was a year ago. Even now, Karma has a difficult time adjusting to the 'real world'. While she gladly has thrown herself headlong into comics, the Net and various bits of geekery, she was never quite equipped with the tools needed to interact with the varied types that modern society (and especially the PCA) had, instead more than willing to let others speak in her stead. Her introversion and self-doubt are the only things that seem to be holding her back, and even then only socially; her battling skills are frightening, and Jethro recognizes that she is simply the best all-around battler on the team, once she fixes her mind on the fight. Even now, she's personally tutoring Five and K-Rush in various aspects of her old teachings to help them better their own styles.
Karma is unusually gangly for a Heracross, who are normally stocky Bug-types, and it makes her look far more awkward than she actually is. Nonetheless, all of that long body is pure, well-trained muscle, and she knows how to use it. A bit on the pretty side, her natural steel-blue carapace and yellow eyes compliment each other well, but good luck convincing her of that. Bald like many Bug-types, she is the opposite of Five; her mode attire consists of mostly geeky catchphrase T-shirts, baggy well-worn jeans, and comfortable sneakers, although she also likes to wear overalls from time to time. She does wear the team chain-and-padlock, but around her right ankle instead of her wrist.
In combat, Karma is a Fighting-type prodigy, and she's begun to progress at a frightening rate. Interaction with the bloodthirsty Issen, the driven Riou, and many others have ignited a new fire in her, and her sifu, Caldera, is doing everything in his power to hammer her into shape while the iron remains hot -- going so far as to have her train with and spar against seasoned professionals to push her limits more and more. It's taxing on her, but she seems to almost thrive in the environment. Her overall technique has grown, starting from the tai chi-like base Caldera taught her, to integrate even her non-Fighting techniques into a smooth, close-range ballet of deflection, redirection and counter-attack that suits her technical skill. Regardless, she is still capable of devastating strikes when the need arises, and is unafraid to rely on raw power when the situation calls for it. Lately, she's also displayed some degree of initiation into feral-based stances and styles -- at the very least, she's shown the classic 'Eager Hunter' stance from the relentlessly-offensive Scyther Style. What else she knows remains to be seen.
