Like her husband, Ni Peng (maiden name Zheng Peng) was born in the Tientsin area, and was one of the post-Boxer Rebellion indemnity students. Unlike Hei, Peng studied economics at Tokyo University. The racism she faced there wasn't as bad as that in Illinois.
They were married (it was an arranged marriage between their families), and had three children; Peng-wum, Shin, and Hao. Stranded with the rest of the family on Spontoon Island in 1929, she followed her husband to the criminal haven of Krupmark Island.
Peng runs the Lucky Dragon Casino south of Fort Bob. The Casino's a gambling den and brothel, and the lady runs the place with an iron paw. With the other madams on the island, she has access to intelligence sources her husband can only dream of. After all, men talk, and women pretend to be deaf.
The fan? It's decorative and useful - the stays are steel . . .
