Oh man, im definitely more of a lizard person. I used to have a Savannah Monitor, Black and White Argentine Tegu and a Argus Monitor. Great lizards I love them.
Snakes are more like the cats of the reptile world, you don't really need to bother with them for weeks on end as long as you feed them and make sure they have water. I have five at the moment; A Columbian Red Tail Boa, A ball python, an albino applegate gopher, a corn snake and this little king snake.
Honestly your best bet for a great starter snake would be a corn snake, king snake, or milk snake - even a ball python but a lot of people don't like their thickness. hahaha

Yeah, lizards are my loves ♥
Everyone I've asked has also said corn snake. I've seen a few for sale where I live and I am tempted every time I go into that store to buy one.
Maybe soon.
They have a savannah monitor in there too that I honestly almost bought last week. He was such a relaxed lizard when they let me hold him.

ahahahhaah get yourself one!!!! snakes are awesome most low maintenance reptile ever.
ahhh savannah monitors <3 they are so chill once you spend a shit ton of time with them I still miss mine. I had to rehome mine to a zoo because my landlord would not allow a three foot lizard ): so sad I miss him so much <3
whenever I get out of college I plan on getting another, as well as a black throat monitor C:

My landlord loves my iguanas. So I think I'm good with having reptiles.
The oldest iguana is over 3 feet long. She's a peach. The other two are only a year old and about a foot long.
A friend of mine had a savannah monitor. It was a good 3 feet also. I could not believe the personality those guys have. It's awesome.
How long did you have your monitor?
I've raised all my reptiles since hatchling.

hahaha that's awesome my new landlord doesn't know about my snakes or cats hahahaha
but iggies are awesome I had one when I was a kid <3
I generally always get my reptiles as hatchlings, including my sav monitor and tegu and argus
I had my sav since he could fit in the palm of my hand - so a good 5-6 years I had him C:
