That was one of the gerbils I once had to take care of. My young neighbour (I was living in the same house like a boy's living group) moved out and asked me to look after his two gerbils. They were a couple so it did not take long for them to become 11 gerbils. The female already had been pregnant. After some months the guy came back and took his now 13 gerbils along with him - and set them free somewhere.
If he had simply asked or said a word he did not really want them back I had kept them. I hope they had at last a beautiful summer before the cold German winter killed them :(
So this picture is all that remains of the little gerbil family. I even gave them the cage of my rat because theirs was too small (this picture is now 14 years old, so cages that time were not of the quality as they are today).
