Just a sketch I did while killing time in the hotel room I was staying in, waiting to go to a wedding.
This is Det. Kevin LeMars, Major Crimes. Coming from a wealthy background, Kevin mostly rejected the opulent lifestyle of his family for the more "pedestrian" occupation of a police officer. Brilliant yet eccentric, he tends to annoy his peers with his peculiar philosophy of the role the police play in society, especially with his generous interpretation of "to protect and serve," though his partner thinks he is "okay." He prides himself on never firing a gun outside of proficiency testing. He's a foil for Lucia, as he finds great interest in her..."activities."
I've been meaning to touch up Kevin's character design for a while, to get away from the ridiculous forelock and give him a more natural look. I wanted less of of the brawny masculine look that he used to have and more to the look of a philosopher-king, someone who operates by word and charm rather than than by farce, so i thinned out his mane considerably and narrowed his shoulders. He's almost regressing to the youngster look that I had from him when I first concepted the character years and years ago.
