We have thought about other 3D printers but decided to go with the Z18 because we have plans for "big" stuff in the future (stay tuned for more announcements on that). Ultimately, 0.1mm resolution is good enough considering we're going to coat the printed figurines in gesso for painting. And because they will be colored, it makes dual extruder function unused. Not to mention Z18's extruder can be swapped with ease (seriously, just give it a good yank and it comes off from its magnetic anchors), allowing us to stock up on spares just in case one breaks down. And because it can be swapped, MakerBot says they will have extruders with other capabilities available in the future, like ABS filament instead of PLA or flexible PU rubber material. So yah, the deciding factors are easily swappable extruders to allow continuous production without downtime and large printing volume.

If you ever need a program that allows you to create 3D models for free, no charge, no fee, no monthly premium, I recomend to yyou Blitz3D, it requires no resources to make your models from, it is compatible with most games, and many free-game-developers like Poe Regalis who is working on SCP Containment Breach providing endless free updates for an endlessly free game has used .B3D format for almost all NPC models, the only exception is him using .X files, which make up most of the rooms in the game along with bump-texture support.
