I guess a hand-gun is pretty tame compared to Photon torpedoes, Napalm and mass electrocution devices...

Hmm... Two of those are part of Tails' sub, and are mostly just used against machines and dive-bombs. The napalm though... Well, the Birdo Armada (Names! Bleh!) did set the entire island on fire. Make them eat their own medicine, no? :D
But yeah, handguns are pretty tame in comparison, I'll agree there. But it's more personal to stare at a guy through a sight and pull the trigger... So it all depends on how you look at it.

And all that before he was even Ten years old...

Tails is either gonna be a Duke Nukem level bad-ass or in a padded room once he's out of puberty

Fighters... That's one of the few Sonic-games that I know almost nothing about. :/
I've seen the Battle-game from the GBA, though in that Tails mostly resorts to his spring-powered puncher, an armcannon (which looks suspiciously similar to Megaman's own), and his tails in a fight. An effective arsenal, but I wouldn't qualify it as fighting with your fists. (Alright, so he uses his tails, and would likely beat Luigi in a Death Battle, but that only goes so far.)

You can find some stuff on Youtube, us uses punches and kicks in Fighters, like mostly everyone

Hmm... That's an oldie, but he's sure punching and kicking in it. Alright, so he can fight with his hands. You don't see him using those skills too often though. :D

Why would he? He needs his hands for his mechanic work, so why not use the tails that can rip through metal like paper?

As a guy who sells video games for a living I often find that M rated games have some of the most immature themes. Not only that but they are often insultingly easy to play, while games rated E or E10 can be shockingly deep and quite difficult.

I'm always do faces of my characters too while drawing them (if it more complicated then normal :| ). So i guess this is trend :)
