I keep getting confused...
Digigrade replaces the fifth toe with a dewclaw,
But plantigrade would use humanoid digits,
Unless racial basis would dictate otherwise,
Or toon design is applied, which removed a digit
to distance the figure from real life...
Of course, artistic license always applies,
but I always wonder what the artist's creative process is like...

Choice really. This is between cartoon and more realistic. Also working with 4 toes rather then 5 is easier, much like the toon 3 fingers and 3 toes are easier to work with/animate. Also the 4 relate to a paw, where the dewclaw is the 5th. If there was 5 toes, it sorta feels more like a 'foot' then a paw. I dunno, stuff ^.^ Also, pie.
Yeah, knowing your degrees of circumference likely comes in handy with all those rounded figures of yours!
To be clear; I was simply stating a reaction that I had been suppressing for a while,
not arguing technique.
Still; when you are in the middle of a drawing course,
your mind kinda gets those stylistic definitions stuck in your head!
Can I just think of it as "Teaselbone-Style"?
