Neat! I rather like this idea, and I may consider purchasing this knife. But I like to work with a Santoku knife, so how much might custom work be? (and since my wallet had a heart attack this month, would a trade be doable?)

I totally understand the knife preference thing. I'm a Henkel girl, myself. Custom work would depend on the design you want - for a design like this... oh, I dunno fifteen dollars? I suck at pricing. Basically once the design was worked out, you'd ship the knife to me, I'd etch it and ship it back. Note me and we'll chat :)

Nah, I could do a sword. It would just have to be short enough to fit in my cabinet, no longer than 34 inches or so. I can also do custom sword components like tsubas. See here for an example: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1102833/

I never have, but if its metal I certainly could. I can do wood, but I'd be afraid it would hurt the tone.

I'd probably be able to do a surface etch on fiberglass. I'd want to get a practice piece before I worked on someone's prized possession ;)

'cause that would look extremely awesome in a professional kitchen; not to mention how easy it makes it to distinguish whose they are (knives migrate if a cook is careless!)

I've done commissions like this where a cook gives me his favorite knives and I put something shnazzy on them.

What country are you in? I'm moving from the US to the UK, and so will be closing commissions in June so I can pack up my equipment. I won't be reopened until after I've finished househunting in the UK.
