______________
Pole
Theory of Operation
Pole is a supportive monobeam structure made of a variety of weather resistant materials. Pole is engineered to be planted in ground at varying depths to support fixtures, wires, or other structures. Pole can be surface mounted with appropriate anchoring systems such as concrete.
Pole sizing depends on supported load, material utilized, and desired height of supported load. Guywires reduce pole sizing, but not all applications allow for footprint requirements of supportive wire.
Diagrams
See promotional brochure “Our Pole Offerings” for material types, diameters and lengths.
Diagnostics:
Supported Load on Ground
Is pole broken?
Yes: Evaluate pole sizing requirements. Replace pole.
No: Go to next check
Was load placed on pole?
Yes: Go to next check.
No: Place load on pole.
Is supportive structures or hardware damaged or missing?
Yes: See applicable technical manual for repair or installation of supportive hardware.
No: Checks complete.
Movement or Bending in Windy or Load Shifting Conditions
Evaluate pole diameter and length in ground versus height above ground.
Are ratios adequate for application?
Yes: Go to next step in check
No: Replace pole or modify footing.
Evaluate load.
Has weight or shear load increased?
Yes: Replace pole or modify footing.
No: Go to next step in check.
Inspect pole. Is pole weathered or damaged?
Yes: Replace pole.
No: Checks complete.
Installation
Warning: Pole exceeds 50 lbs. (22.6 Kg). To prevent personal injury from lifting heavy object, use approved lifting device.
Dig hole.
Insert pole.
Bury it deep.
Ohhhh yeahh.

Dearest Mr. Or Ms. Ass:
Thank you for your inquiry! Rest assured our poles will meet your every desire and engineering specification.
Due to scale, our samples are made by hand. High recent production demands have caused the paint on our samples to may still be wet. Therefor you may experience sample slipperyness. For your safety insert sample pole quickly in desired hole or footing for sampling purposes.
Please inform your colleague of this issue so he may be well prepared for the coefficient of friction he may experience on his testing of our product.

This reminds me of an old joke - a fellow was standing next to a flag pole tossing a tape measure into the air. When asked by a passerby what he was doing he said, "I'm trying to find out how tall this pole is." The passerby, a helpful fellow says, "Let me show you how to do that." With a grunt, he pulls the pole out of the ground and lays it down. Taking the tape measure he uses it to get the measurement, tells the other fellow, and then puts the pole back again. After he leaves the first fellow begins tossing the tape measure again and when asked by another person who just witnessed the event why he was doing that he replies, "I wanted to know how tall it was, not how wide it was."
