(Late response) Cisco doesn't own the world anymore XPP They're the standard but are quickly fading into highly-priced obscurity, like Alcatel-Lucent. Cisco's gotta come up with some ground-breaking, earth-shattering tech to remain relevant. Even their CRS-X is outpaced by Juniper's 2 year old MX and PTX lines. Their firewall line doesn't even compare to the Juniper SRX series, which is itself child's play to Palo Alto.

Yeah I hear Cisco is trying to bump IOS-XR into their lower-end lines just to try and keep up, but it has it's own plethora of oddities. Plus maintaining so many different code lines is hampering their ability to rapidly integrate new technologies into their mainstream codelines. Plus they seem to be bouncing a lot of product lines (ACE, ASA, etc). I'd be pissed if I was an ASA user and had to retrain all my staff on the new SourceFire firewalls, and not have any SME's on it.

We do have some ACE's (hell, we even have a CSS for our PeopleSoft environment) but we're migrating all of that to a few BIG-IP's. My opinion on losing the ACE? Good riddance.
