Alas, I don’t know exactly. Some suspect that the curve of the stock was tucked under arm when shooting, though that’s unlikely considering that such posture would put the firing pan too close to shooter's eyes. They usually had foldable bipod made of horns or metal attached to the barrel(which I forgot to depict in this doodle), so I think they could be fired without problem in protected, stationary position.
